Comments Thread For: Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. Will Get Made or Fall Apart Next Week

The Mexican mega-fight between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) will either get made or fall apart by next week. The fight would headline an HBO Pay-Per-View event on May 6th. At the moment, the biggest issue with finalizing Chavez-Canelo is the money.

Didn't they say this 2 weeks ago? LOL. Whatever. I honestly don't care who Canelo fights now. Come September, he should be fighting GGG like he said he would...

I wonder how much Junior is asking for. Is he still popular to the Mexican fan base? At the height of his popularity, he would of had more of a leg to stand on. I know his dad said they are looking at 30 to 35 percent, but I'm just wondering what dollar amount was offered. 30 to 35 percent would give Canelo a huge share of the pot. I don't understand. Those are like purse bid numbers.

        Another hbo ppv right?
This is probably the worst fight between two top/popular Mexican fighters in Mexican boxing history

My guess is that people in Mexico wanna see Jr beating Canelo. He will be seen as some kind of hero. Canelo got some bad reputation after what he did... the fight can be huge just because of that.

A Golden Boy money grab is all this fight is. There is no reason other money should he skip 160 and face lil g to improve his legacy. If he beat lil g, he could easily decline all fights at 160 afterwards, face a light heavy at a catch THEN for a belt.

So by avoiding lil g, he has become him, by fighting another beer can.
