Round by Round Coverage; Ricky Hatton vs. Luis Collazo

A British invasion is on the horizon, Ricky "Hitman" Hatton's conquest of America begins in the TD Banknorth Garden, located on Causeway Street in Boston's Downtown North section.

In the 12-round main event, Ricky Hatton (40-0, 30KOs) vacates his junior welterweight titles and moves up to the welterweight division to challenge WBA champion Luis Collazo, (26-1, 12KOs), of Brooklyn, New York. Hatton has not made the journey to America alone as hundreds of his fellow supporters from Manchester, England have made the journey as well.

Collazo, only 25-years-old, is confident that he will beat the fighter he views as the smaller man moving up to his weight class. Collazo is best known for his 2005 fight of the year caliber of a slugfest with Jose Antonio Rivera, the bout that earned him the WBA welterweight crown. Collazo followed up the win with a crushing seven round stoppage over former champion Miguel Angel Gonzalez last August.

Hatton, also young at 27-years-old, had the best year of his career in 2005. Hatton shocked the world by dominating and then stopping junior welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu on June 4 in Manchester, England, when Tszyu was unable to come out for the final round. To follow up his career defining win over Tszyu, Hatton knocked out WBA junior welterweight champion Carlos Maussa in the ninth round to grab his second 140 pound title in less than 6 months time. So what if the crowd was full of English supporter? Are they any help to Hatton?

If Hatton's going to win it is because he is a better fighter not because his ENGLISH FANS watched the goddam weigh in.

This will be interesting. This will be the second Hatton fight I have watched.I did see some of the Kostya T. fight and I wasn't overly impressed, but peeps around here say he changed his style for one fight so I'll wait to see how he does.

I honestly don't see why people don't like Hatton. Or doubt him. That man can fight. He's tough, powerful and quick. His style makes for exciting fights because of the constant in your face approach he has. I dig this guy and hope he makes it all the way to PBF. That's the fight I'm waiting for. So I hope Hatton wins whatever fights he has to, to get in the ring with PBF. If PBF will step up to the challenge.
