    Chuvalo - WBC Champ!

Canadian boxing icon George Chuvalo was presented with an honourary WBC Heavyweight Championship belt on Tuesday night in Toronto.

Arguably the best Canadian boxer ever, Chuvalo held the Canadian Heavyweight Championship title for an unprecedented 21 years from 1958 to 1979. Chuvalo also traded blows with some of the greatest fighters of his era, including Muhammed Ali, George Foreman and Joe Frazier. In 97 professional bouts, Chuvalo was never knocked down.

While Chuvalo is widely known for his successful career as a professional boxer, the time and effort he has committed to his charity, Fight Against Drugs, is a great personal triumph. Having lost three sons to drugs and his wife to suicide, Chuvalo founded the charity in 1996 and, over the years, has reached out to more than 100,000 youths from every walk of life.

Chuvalo has done great things in and out of the ring, i just wish he could have beat an Ali, FRAZIER, or Foreman but still had a great career, his biggest win would have to be QUARRY! And FOREMAN TKOed him, so i think he has been KD before!

I respect Chuvalo for his chin.

Anyone who has never been knocked down in 97 bouts is a ****ing beast.

Nah Foreman was throwing mega bombs and Chuvalo just stood there. The fight was stopped but he never went down.

...Wow, I didn't know all that ****ed up **** happened in his personal life. That really sucks. I wonder if his wife killed herself because she lost her boys?

You're exactly right. Think about that. A prime Big George was wailin' away at will and old Chuvalo was being pushed around abit, but he wasn't showing any signs of going down.

I like Chuvalo. He had such a hard life. He deserves to be honored like this.

Yes. I think she commited suicide by overdosing on pills, wasn't able to handle the loss of her children.
