If this fight determined the P4P #1 and 2, the second match will determine it even more clearly, because, as you say... adjustments will have to be made.
That punch man, what a shot.

So perfectly timed. Props to Ward for surviving.

I think obviously Kovalev was saving his tank, in a rematch he may not make the same mistake.

I think Ward got all the close rounds because people saw him there and not on the floor and said "Oh wait, Kovalev isn't destroying him. Ward must have this"

But Kovalev can box. And he did. He outboxed Ward in those close rounds that SOME people defaulted to Ward.

I thought Kovalev put on a boxing clinic, and completely neutralized the elite, super smooth and slick Andre Ward. If Kovalev wouldn't have had power, and been known for his smooth defense and elite boxing, I bet you that many people who had Ward winning those close rounds, would probably score them for Kovalev.

      To each his own.

Kovalev has always had that timing/measuring distance stat on an A++. It's really one of the things he's best at.

I legit thought Ward was gonna be done after that. For him to get up and survive that and make it to the end, I mean, he's a warrior. No doubt. That was a PERFECTLY timed shot.

Real good card. I think I just had Kovalev nicking the 9th on account of some great landed combos to Ward's head.

Whereas I am a fan of Kovalev and was rooting for him.

In all honesty, when Buffer said "all three judges scored it 114-113" I expected "and NEW" to his next words. That's just how I felt without actually scoring it.
I was expecting to hear Kovalev, it felt like a glitch in the matrix

Those scores were exactly how I expected it to be scored for Kovalev. Shocked me when he didn't get the decision.

                1-2, 4, 10, 12 for Kovalev.
                3, 5-9, 11 for Ward.

114-113 Ward. Could have been one point either way. The knockdown affected a lot of people's perceptions of the fight IMO.

Lederman's scorecard was atrocious. Why do they even have him score fights anymore? He scores everything for the aggressor.

Ward controlled the fight after the 3rd/4th round

                  3rd/4th could've went either way

I can say with surety that I can't give Kovalev a round after the 4th. Ward did better work on the inside/outside. Ward landed crisp head snapping jabs and punished sergey to the body. And oh yeah, Kovalev hit a lot of air after the 2nd round knockdown

Ward won the fight hands down

Most definitely and I believe Ward wasn't expecting to be timed like that.

Made Ward tentative to throw that right hand.

                      Ha.

I just thought, if it were wide cards then it's Kovalev's but if it's close cards it's probably Ward's.

I was expecting close cards though.

The Sky Team (Pauli and Macklin) had it razor close for Ward.
