Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: Edison Miranda Was Biggest Puncher I Ever Faced

ANDRE WARD should fear Sergey Kovalev's punching power if he is going to go with the script. But the American star's own story gives him reason not to ahead of their long-awaited light-heavyweight battle this weekend in Las Vegas. The fight seems to be the perfect match of a boxer in Ward and a power puncher in Kovalev, while many believe the winner will be crowned pound-for-pound king of the sport.

Not Boone? I'm surprised... Even Kovalev would agree!

Yeah I'd be curious for people with better memories than me, how big a puncher was Abraham at 168 back then? Maybe we can use this to better triangulate our predictions for saturday.

Abraham and Miranda are bon-a-fide power punchers. I would say they are equal but both have tremendous power and hurt most guys very easy, they are just really slooooooow. Carl Froch can **** too but he is third behind those guys.

              Fantastic interview.
“He hit me with some shots and I was like ‘wow’ but I was able to walk through it because Virgil, before camp started, looked me in the eye and said ‘taking a punch, some of it is physical but a lot of it is mental. Make up your mind right now that no matter what this man hits you with it is not going to be enough’."

              Pretty awesome stuff.

Let Stevenson or a good puncher catch him clean and them tell me it is mental.
The brain disconnects you when it feels the trauma caused by a direct hit.

Trevor Berbick had asked Virgil Hunter about the "mental" issue when you take a hard punch way back in November 1986, but unfortunately it didn't work.
