And none of the fights you mentioned would have netted Hopkins close to $5 mil at that time - especially not as a defeated champion. P.Will and Pavlik were nobodies at the time the Tarver fight was made, Cory was a beaten WW ex-champ and Winky was gunning for Gold with Taylor.

I agree with you that Andre wins most fights by decision, so asking him to ko Brand isn't fair, but I think Sanchez has a point about Brand being pretty weak competition for Ward.

What Sanchez said was Brand didn't belong in the same ring with Ward. Abel trains Barrera, Brand doesn't have a trainer because he couldn't afford one on what he was getting paid to fight Andre. lol

Go back and read Sanchez statements before the Barrera fight. He was saying Ward has lost it and Barrera would beat him. Ok, that's normal for trainers to say. But go watch the post fight conference and listen to Sanchez throw Barrera under the bus after the fight. I've never seen a trainer to do that. That's why Barrera left him. He's never done that to one of his fighters after they lost. That's how I know it's personal with Ward. Show me another time Sanchez has done that to his fighter after a loss. Show me any trainer doing that to his fighter after a loss

And Tarver/Hoplins $8.5 mil purse isn't blockbuster. Ward-Kovalev purse will be about the same. This is a great fight for boxing fans but it's not a blockbuster fight. Eight figures for the B-side is a blockbuster fight but people around here call that low-balling.

What did Sanchez say that makes you think he was "throwing his fighter under the bus". I remember he was saying Barrera, after only 17 pro fights wasn't ready for a great boxer like Ward but I guess I missed the part where he was dissing Barrera.
