It's true what he said about Sergey fighting in said location with Chilemba and the circumstances. Should be weighed in. Kovalev has demonstrated consistently that he likes fighting away in hostile territory, that he seems to thrive on it and that it makes him even sharper and more devastating in the ring. Maybe we'll see the same in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

I know it was a mandatory but he was talking up his chances before the fight even though it was obvious he was outmatched but now he's trying to downplay Ward's chances even though he's undoubtedly Kovalev's best opponent to date.

People are not giving Chilemba enough credit for that performance, guarantee you that Kovalev would have gone about his usual business if he had an opponent he could hit at will.

If he's not ready now, he never will be. Yeah his comeback has been a bit weak but he's been in top fights before, he was still training while inactive and has had 2 tune ups for this fight. Ward is very skilled, i don't think another tune up, even a bit more difficult one would make much difference at this stage.

At the end of the day, they had 2 tune ups knowing that Kovalev was after those 2 fights. If they didn't get the right tune ups and preparation then that's their fault.

There can be no excuses from either side in this one.

True enough, Chilemba had a 'good' showing, in the sense that he spoiled the game. A tricky customer and Kovalev does need to up his game when drawing a straight line from that fight. But as I outlined, there's good reason to believe he will.

Sanchez needs Ward to lose because he knows the calls for GGG to fight Kovalev won't be as loud as they'll be for GGG to move up and do what Brook & Hopkins did. Hopkins moving up was for greatness. I don't recall Tarver being a big money fight.
