Comments Thread For: Kell Brook: Errol Spence Will Leave With His Tail Between His Legs!

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25KOs) is pretty confident that unbeaten Olympian Errol Spence (21-0, 18KOs) will have to fly out to the UK to face him. Spence is the mandatory challenger to Brook's world title. Back in 2014, Brook was in the same exact position. He was the mandatory challenger to Shawn Porter. After Porter's manager/adviser, Al Haymon, won the purse bid - Brook was forced to fly to the United States to face Porter at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles, California.

I thought it was assumed Spence would have to come over the UK for a title shot

Why would anyone think otherwise ?

Im getting Hype up. If he wasnt afraid of GGG, why would he be afraid of Spence? Great fight, im actually more interested On Brook vs Spence, than Thurman vs Garcia.

I think it's gonna be a great fight if both guys are healthy, which brings me to the point of whether Kell can make 147 healthy again after putting on all that muscle for GGG? You bet that Kell is weighing 175+ right now, the worst case scenario is if Kell killed himself to make 147, got stopped by Spence, then started complaining and making excuses about being drained. I don't have a problem wih this title fight being a couple of pounds over the limit (149-150) just so that there are no excuses, Errol can easily fight a couple of pounds over 147 and these couple of pounds can actually be a huge difference for Kell, boxing needs this fight. Make it happen!

Spence may go the way of Jacobs and try and price himself out or just claim he needs an extra 18 months. Maybe he needs tune 2 years worth of tune ups like Ward and Garcia.

I dunno, he'll think up an excuse, he is American after all.

It wouldn't be a title fight if its over 147

So there'd be nothing forcing the fight to happen

I meant I'd have no problem with them making an exception so that the fight can get made and if it gets made that there are no excuses.
