To make it more interesting, you can't have more than 1 fight in the same weight division, you have to use the version of the fighter based on the weight you have them at, you can't have more than 2 fighters from the same decade (so if I used JWW 2009 Manny, he's in the 2001-2010 decade), and you can't match up guys that already fought each other in real life (so can't use prime Floyd vs prime Manny in 2009).

So if I draft my top 10 to be Tyson, Ali, Hagler, Hopkins, Hearns, JMM, etc, etc ,etc, and my card was something like

    Ali-Tyson(HW)
    Hearns-JMM (WW)
    Hopkins-Hagler (MW)
    xxxxxx-xxxxxx (CW)
    xxxxxx-xxxxxx (LHW)

then I would have to use the version JMM and Hearns when they were at 147 even though they were better at other weight classes. So if I put Manny in a fight at 122 pounds, I have to use that Manny Pacquiao instead of the prime Manny at 140/147.
I think 10 rounds is too much considering I'm only looking for about 6 people, maybe a few more depending on responses here. Having said that, each guy could be 2 fighters per round and end up with a total of 12 fighters.

I do really like the rest of your idea though.

We'll work on the rules tomorrow.

For example, pound-for-pound Tyson Fury stands up to anybody past or present at Heavyweight. However, there's a long list of fighters who's legacy he doesn't come close to touching.

We're going off of picking guys on the basis of everything that is required in ranking a fighter: skill set, opponents, titles, title reign (length and quality), p4p all sorts but in it's all up to who you pick.

You can choose Adrien Broner for all I care but I doubt you'd win any polls with that lol

10 rounds means 10 picks, so 10 fighters = 5 fights on your card. I think that's doable.

yeah but we'll just do 6 rounds, 2 picks per round each, end up with 12 fighters and 6 fights on a card.

        you in?

I'd be in, but I want to clearly understand how it works and we need to agree on a structure and method.

I don't even really understand how redrafts work in other sports, not the point of it, so I hope to understand this.

I think we have about 6 names now.

I'll set up the rules by tomorrow night hopefully but everyone can have their input.

Raonic suggested some very good points.

I'd probably want to see the rules and everything first but I'd be open to joining if the rules are fine,

So, including me and excluding Raonic, we have 6 guys up for the draft. These are the rules I came up with but if anyone has some suggestions, improvements or additions post them up by later today and we can then get started. So here it is:

Six participants and thus six rounds. Each participant can pick two fighters per round.

You can pick any fighter from any decade, from the 1950s to the 2000s.

In total, you should have 12 fighters by the end of the final round. However, there should be at least one fighter from each of the 6 decades available. You can have UP TO 3 fighters from one decade.

A fighter is eligible for a particular decade if he has had a minimum of 10 fights in that 10 year span.

You can have a maximum of 2 fighters from a single weight division. This allows for a genuine mix of fighters from across weight divisions.

Once all your picks are completed, you must then put together the "Draft Fight Card". This should total 6 fights. Fights can only be made between fighters a single division apart. For example if you picked Roberto Duran as a pick from the 1970s, he would be regarded as a lightweight and thus can only be matched with a super featherweight or a light welterweight.

At the end of completing our fight cards, we put up a poll with regards to who has the best fight night. The winner of the poll wins...well nothing it's just for bragging rights.

If you were to pick a fighter who had fought in multiple weight divisions during a particular decade, you can pick which weight division you want him at. He must however, have fought a minimum of 3 fights in said division.
