I don't care is he's fighting Thurman next. There is no way to justify this Vargas fight. Especially after telling Spence he needs to earn his shot but turning around and fighting someone Spence fought when he was a prospect. If he wanted to fight Spence leftovers he should've fought Algieri who beat Ruslan, went the distance with Pacquiao & Khan (which was a draw in my opinion). Wlad hasn't fought in almost a year and he's about to fight Joshua. Porter went straight from Broner to Thurman. Roman & Frampton moved up a division and fought champions. There is no way to justify this Vargas fight.

Garcia stopped being a good champion and turned into a cherry picker right after he beat Matthysse. Haymon must really have power in boxing to get Garcia a title shot with washed up Guerrero for a vacant title.Garcia deserved to fight for the vacant title but against a better challenger than Guerrero. After forcing everyone to wait almost a year to defend his title he picks a guy Spence KOed not so long ago. I will believe he is fighting Thurman when he signs the contract to fight Thurman. I picked Matthysse to beat him and if he fights Thurman I'll pick Thurman to beat him. I wonder who Guerrero would pick to win.

Garcia has been the underdog in a few important fights and came out the winner. I fail to see how that means every time he is the underdog he is certain to win. He is a good welterweight with a chance to beat Thurman. Thurman has fought and defeated much better welterweights and deserves to be the favorite.

It's time to stop blaming Haymon and start holding these fighters accountable! There are plenty of examples of PBC fighters taking tough fights if they want to. And there are plenty of examples of guys moving up in weight getting high rankings from the organization they held the belt for in lower weight classes.

If these guys want tough fights they'll get tough fights. Vanes has said that himself. Porter is an example of a PBC fighter that wants and gets tough fights.
