I'd say Golovkin is the better fighter if we're going by a more strict definition of the word but Rigondeaux is the best pure boxer in the sport right now to me. I see a difference between fighter and boxer if I'm being more literal in their meaning.
rigondeaux's too inactive and he's aging. i don't rate him higher than golovkin on a p4p list.
that said, at his best, golovkin would be hard pressed to sniff that guy's jock if they were the same size. maybe he gets lucky and wins via knockout. if you let a genuine puncher fight a superior boxer enough times on paper he'll eventually get lucky.
otherwise he's going to get walked around in circles and into counterpunches. donaire lacked a jab and steadyness, which is different from golovkin. golovkin's just too easy to hit for rigondeaux. he's too crafty and he'd be too sharp.
and we don't have to talk about the resume. donaire was a top ranked p4per and hall of famer at the end of a terrific undefeated streak, one of the best in boxing. he'd been on the radar as an elite since he stopped darchinyan in '07.
I dont know thats a good question. Two different styles so its hard to tell id say rigo though, he is the most technically skilled fighter along with andre ward right now. Also has a win over elite opposition so id give rigo the edge right now.
Guys you're almost comparing them going head to head. I am talking about career wise both amateurs and the pro ranks. Who has been the better fighter and who has a better resume?
