The money wasn't risked so much as invested in building one or the other of the fighters and the PBC brand. If Jacobs loses to GGG - as he's expected to by most - it's hard to see the upside for PBC and Haymon.

We'll see though. TBH I just wanna see this **** made, a lot of the BS that's being discussed here is just jockeying for position so that we can all start playing the blame game if it falls through.
It's time to **** or get off of the pot though, imo. If Daniel Jacobs backs out of the fight and drops his belt, what does he do next? The Billy Joe Saunders fight is still there (Saunders' actual profile in the US is about where Liam Sith's profile was, so it's not like it'll make a massive fight, in the US or UK), but that's about it.

Jacobs could fight Khurtsidze or Andy Lee or Hassan N'Dam, or a host of other fighters, but literally every fight would just be tick-over type fights.

Golovkin-Jacobs, in essence, is the payoff to that investment; it's a massive fight for Jacobs, a victory in that fight makes Jacobs a star in NYC, and (even in possible defeat) Jacobs is all of 29 years old (with more than enough time to still go with those tick-over fights and get positioned for another shot).

because 25% is not enough for such a dangerous fight

why does Hypekin deserve more than 10mil for Canelo?

Mr 97k is nobody..... he has done absolutely nothing other than beat Murray, beat Lemieux, and tell lies.

they just ruled in favor of the manipulators who were unwilling to negotiate in good faith

Gennady's mother did not even wait until the negotiation period had ended before requesting an early purse-bid...... so everyone can clearly see what is happening.

But as usual, you fanboy f@gs couldn't care less if it benefits your hypejob.

unless you were present at the negotiations (which I doubt you were unless it was only for 60 seconds when you delivered their pizzas), then you havent the slightest idea what was or wasnt negotiated............

Jacobs knew the split and carried on so you do not have a point.

What do you think of Jacobs if he walks away now robbing us of the fight?

I feel sorry for anyone who buys into your schtick...or are you that dumb?

Anyway....I predicted Danny would vacate months ago. getting the same payday vs GGG as you got vs Quillin would make a less-confident man think twice HAHA

I want to see this fight but not because of Danny Jacobs, I don't see him lasting past 5 rounds.

Thats assuming its an HBO date. If it went to PPV they might could squeeze another million out of it, but anything north of that its High Risk City......
Maybe I'm wrong, but Stephen Espinoza is making it appear as if he's going to be willing to put more money behind the fight for Lou DiBella than HBO seems willing to put behind the fight for K2.

The bid will likely come down to perceived "pain points"; if Lou DiBella is willing to risk some money in the short term (with the DiBella/Haymon relationship being what it is, and a ton of TV-ready fighters coming along ready for the New York market), how is K2 going to respond to $6m being bid, with no deference paid to HBO?

K2 may not care all that much about the fight, but the fight is basically being set as Jacobs' megafight (Brooklyn kid, fighting back from his illness to be the #2 MW on the planet, taking on the #1 fighter at the weight, in Brooklyn).

Bids are going to be interesting

Daniel Jacobs, almost literally, has near no leverage at the weight class without having a piece of the world title; Jacobs tried to get Saunders to fight, and that came up bust anyway.

Jacobs vacates the belt, yet who does he realistic have a chance to fight in his next three bouts?

For a fight on regular HBO, there's been no indication anywhere that Jacobs has been offered $1m, let alone Golovkin being willing to give up a piece of his seemingly guaranteed $2m to help make the numbers work.

If the money doesn't show up in negotiation, Jacobs' camp will look for the money at the bids.
