It is because of wrestling. High school/college/olympic style wrestling is much more popular with whites. MMA these days is more high school wrestling than martial arts bloodsport. Neither pays well but boxing you suffer more brain damage, wrestling is much nicer for your health. Boxing is more for poor desperate people alongside bull riding.

If younger white-Americans are gravitating towards UFC more than boxing then why can't that be, in part, because of the lack of identifiable fighters in boxing for them get behind? If at present Britain had no good boxers of note then the current boxing boom in the UK would not be happening because people would have nobody to care about and the thing about the US is that the ethnic/race element is a strong component. How did the UFC become more mainstream?

Because color wasnt a FACTOR in the first place the UFC having Wrestlers were bc it gave different athletes out side boxing of ALL colors a different venue ,boxing DIDNT have a younger fanbase at the time of UFC's rising popularity around 2002 and its gotten older with this generation of YOUNGER kids that follows MMA and its bc of better more advertised fights not bc there white champions who are not by the way the majority in the Ufc. UFC will always be growing with the younger generations its not that hard to figure out its more entertaining sport to watch than boxing and thats bc it has a WWElike atmosphere bc everyone HAS to fight eachother on the UFC's selective roster .
