Comments Thread For: Imminent Big Fights Prompt 2017 Wish List

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - It's a tasty time to be a boxing fan. Now that the gloved action at the Summer Olympics in Brazil has come and gone, the stage is cleared for a series of professional fights that'll make the remainder of the year delicious. And thanks to the contented palate that appetizers like Golovkin-Brook, Kovalev-Ward and the return of Manny Pacquiao seem sure to create between here and 2017, I'm even more hungry...

You're either an idiot, or a paid shill.

        Wilder vs Joshua
        Stevenson vs Beterbiev

I could go on and on. There are enough good fights to make a "superfight" every weekend all year long in boxing. If promoters actually did their jobs, they don't even know what they have, boxing could be one of the most popular sports again and they could make millions every weekend if they just made the big fights, once a week, all year long. The talent is there. Frampton-Mares, winner rematches Santa Cruz, Charlo-JRoc if Charlo stops ducking, Stevenson-Beterbiev winner vs Kovalev-Ward winner, I mean there are so many, so many, good fights to make, if the fighters would just fight, and promoters/managers would stop cherry picking to protect individual fighters instead of doing what's best for the sport and the best fighters and putting them there and letting the cream rise to the top.

But they won't and so the sport is currently broken and dying especially in the U.S.

Aside from the HW fight, they are all fights where guys have to jump at least a division. Pac to 54, Crawford to 47, Lomachenko to 135, Golovkin to 175.

All he did is pick the biggest name guy at each weight and then matched him against the biggest name in the weight class below. Does he really think Canelo-Pac is one of the best fights possible or did he just want another excuse to write about Floyd again?

... After Kovalev beats him, Ward will have to go down at 168 in order to get GGG.
