I disagree that Pascal was shot at the time. Up to that point his only losses were to Hopkins and to Carl Froch way back when.

He might be borderline shot now but a lot of that has to do with the two severe beatings Kovalev has given him.




That's just it, there aren't enough quality boxers like Campillo or even Cleverly and Chilemba on Golovkin's resume. They might have their weaknesses but even then they are still a notch more proven than most of the guys GGG has fought.

I guess I should've put it differently. Pascal has always been overrated in my opinion, him being a top LHW had more to do with the division being weak than him being a good fighter.

Kovalev's resume is good, better than Golovkin's by far for example.

I'm not getting into a flame war with a known Golovkin hater. In your eyes, everyone Kovalev fights is a solid contender and a real fighter and everyone Golovkin fights is a bum.


Kovalev's best win is Bernard Hopkins. And here's the irony of Hopkins - when Loeffler said they're discussing fighting Hopkins in early 2016, EVERYONE said it's a lame fight and Golovkin needs to stop picking on old guys. Despite Kovalev just fighting Hopkins and Golovkin being a smaller guy who would be giving up weight advantages.

There are only a few people on the site who can be objective and not go into full troll-mode when it comes to a guy they dislike. You are not one of them.

Just with my experience in major fights there is a lot of back and forth ******ed bull**** that goes on between fans of both fighters.

You don't see that with Ward vs Kovalev so I anticipate we will see a lot more mature and intelligent boxing discussions leading up to this fight. More so than we are used to.

You dont see that because Ward is continuously trying to hype up Kovalev and Kovalev barely trashes any fighter unless he has something thrown his way so both guys are being respecting of each and their fans, who do as their fighters do, are doing the same.

So again, I don't see anything here to applaud. It's just common sense.

Not everyone is as crass as a Mayweather or a Broner and their sets of fans, although many of their fans do overlap and I've seen quite a few posts on here claiming Kovalev is flat footed and how Ward is going to be too slick for the "eurobum" etc etc

Kovalev is a certified beast. It's the sort of test that will prove Ward's greatness. Challenges like this are what make ATG fighters.

If Murray/Chilemba/Cleverly are of a similar level...and that level is GGG's best but not Kovalev's...then the resumes aren't similar.

Kovalev's resume is without a doubt better.

Every damn fanboy do this, they big up the opponents of their fighter to make that victory seem more bigger and greater than it really is. Not saying kovalev aint top3 arguably #1 in my book but this tactic is nothing new, its happens almost every weekend and more so every big fight.
