Was klitschko dominance down to a lack of other super heavies?

I mean back then you almost always saw guys 6'1-6'3 challenging them

Now we have deontay fury and Joshua so it's not like anyone is always going to carry that size advantage

We saw a prime Vitali get stopped by an old lewis and we just saw Wlad struggle badly against a taller opponent who basically just did what Wlad usually does to shorter guys.

BTW I know there were some tall heavies the klitschkos beat but mostly they were unskilled lumoxes I'm talking skilled super heavies

That was primarily the reason. There were some smaller fighters who were probably better but couldn't overcome the size, which is a REAL factor. I think both would brothers would get waxed by some of the heavyweights in the old days. Sure, they could compete in any era given their size, but they wouldn't be dominant. We're finally getting a changing of the guard to more exciting HWs.

I think it had more to do with their opponent choices. Neither guy had to compete with the entire division. Both only had to compete with half.

Wlad had the skill. Vitali had the chin. So Wlad faced the guys who may have outboxed Vitali and Vitali faced the guys who may have cracked Wlad.

probably half and half.....wlad was a pretty solid heavyweight regardless. very talented. but the other half is guys weren't there with the talent to push him. it was a horrible era he dominated.



the division has now picked up serious steam. ortiz, wilder, joshua, fury.

i really don't see wlad ever being able to deal with this division. wlad benefited from the division being at a low point although the dude was really talented.

klitschkos were never really that good, even though it was close vitali lost to a lennox lewis who barely trained, wlad was fortunate there wasnt anyone around his size with skills, and when there was he lost to him (tyson 2 fast fury)

I doubt it. He was an olympic Gold medalist, and had all of the physical skills, and once Stewart taught him to think, and work behind the jab and control a fight, he was like Lennox Lewis, but probably better, since he was smarter.

He didn't even lose rounds. It might not have been the most exciting thing, but he methodically took people apart and knocked them out, and for all the flack he caught, he took on all comers, and completely cleared out the division.

His brother probably still would have kicked his ass though, but Vitali was a freak.

They are both chinny, both used the Emanuel Stewart style. Wlad used it to put on a much longer and more dominant reign than Lewis did.

Wlad is much more clinical in the way he takes fighters apart than Lewis was.

11 years as champion vs 5 for lewis.

And like Lewis, he dominated his key rival in Povetkin, who was a fellow gold medalist.

These are all super heavies and he has fought more guys that are "super heavies" time is catching up to him he is in his 40's and he has had a very long career in the pros don't try to paint it any other way.

Wladimir in his late 20's early 30's would have absolutely annihilated Dyson Fury.
