    Kessler vs. Golovkin at 168lbs

Kessler vs. Golovkin at 168lbs. Who would win this fight, prime vs. prime? Let's analyse them.

    Size: Kessler
Kessler is 185cm tall, with a reach of 188cm. Golovkin is 179cm tall, with a reach of 178cm. Kessler's height advantage and especially his reach advantage is considerable and when we add in the fact that this is a 168lbs fighter vs a 160lbs fighter, then yeah, Kessler is just the far bigger man here. He even tried 175lbs once.

    Power: Draw
Kessler got 35 knockouts in 46 wins, Golovkin has 32 knockouts in 35 wins. Golovkin knocks out weaker opponents, at 160lbs, and is hunting for the knockouts more, which is the reason behind his higher percentage. But when you look at their fights, then their punching powers are obviously very similar.

    Chin: Draw
Both have never been knocked down or stopped, so yeah, what else would be fair to say than a draw? Both guys got granite chins.

    Skills: Kessler
Kessler is not an aggressive fighter like Golovkin, but a technically strong fighter with a combination of a good attack and a good defense. He is also less wild with his punch, which results in the lower KO percentage than Golovkin, but on the other hand, it makes him look technically far superior when he dominates his opponents with his skills. Kessler is not too good at adepting to complicated opponents, but in the case of Golovkin, adepting won't be neccessary. It's only fair to rate Kessler above Golovkin in this department, althought that doesn't mean that Golovkin isn't skilled. Kessler is just obviously more skilled.

    Speed: Draw
Neither guy got lightning hands and neither guy got slow hands. They got the hand speed that they need. A winner would be too hard to pick here.

    Stamina: Draw
Neither guy has shown to have stamina problems. Their stamina is obviously at around the same level.

    Resume: Kessler
Kessler's best win, Froch, is a better win than any win on Golovkin's record. Other Kessler wins are generally better than Golovkin's wins. For example, Golovkin defeated a past it Geale, while Kessler defeated the prime Mundine that defeated prime Geale. Kessler also had some undefeated snacks sometimes, such as Librado Andrade and Dimitri Sartison, which are better opponents than Golovkin's average opponents. Librado Andrade would have been the best win on Golovkin's resume right now. This is a no-brainer, Kessler's resume is leagues above.

I have now broken down the analysis. How do you think it would go?

Personally, I see the bigger, better and more proven guy to be the winner here, in a war of a decision victory.

I'll go with the proven fighter that has better wins than Lemieux.

Mikkel has been down, it was at light heavy vs Allan Green. Which is completely irrelevant anyway as it was a flash knockdown.

Kessler would stop GGG IMO, I'm a fan of both. Kessler would face absolutely anyone though, he never cherry picked shyt. He never had to take the Froch rematch in the lions den but he did and had it not been for the low blow being allowed to go in the last round Kessler would have took that round and the fight would have been a draw.

            Lmao.

Lemieux is A doh. That makes GGG super Cracker Jack Elite A, did you not know ?

LOL @ the demographic picking Kessler. If you can't tell by the eye test that technically GGG is on a whole different level like your hero's uncle would say, YDKSAB.

That wasn't a knockdown, bro. He lost his balance and it wasn't counted as a knockdown.

He would hurt Golovkin badly, but no, not stop him. Golovkin got a good chin and Kessler would also have to be careful.

I see Kessler winning by UD, with Golovkin's bodywork making it hard along the way.

I think skills is a draw yet power most certainly goes to Kessler, the man stopped light heavies with a left hook that would have killed a middleweight. Seriously Kessler stops his opponents maliciously with brute proven power, a lot of these GGG opponents as stopped on punch accumulation. TKO.

                  The power isn't even comparable.

Really tough to call for me. I'd want to see how Golovkin looks at 168 but right now I wouldn't rule out a UD either way. The argument that one guy is more proven than the other is valid upto a point, but the simple fact is we don't know how good Gennady is until he fights someone with real class - which at this rate may never happen.

How do you reckon Degale - GGG would go? That one remains a real possibility - especially if GGG -Brook turns out to be good earner in the UK. Another interesting hypothetical would be Kessler vs Degale,
