Man the OP's the worst poster on here! Firstly there is nothing new in a top MW fighting a top former WW.. Hopkins best wins were Oscar & Tito! Sergio Martinez was a career WW & Haglers best wins are Duran & Hearns (a Former LW & WW) Secondly the OP is assuming GGG isn't going to move up when he has finished at 160 (Jacobs, Saunders etc) Do you have access to the future or something? This is an intriguing matchup the #1 WW moving up to fight the #1 MW.. People only seem to think size is important when it suits there agenda! Chris Eubank Jr (or his team at least) were given a contract to fight Golovkin. They did not sign it in time. Kell Brook stepped in. Deal with it..
You lot have no problem discussing hypothetical matchups between FMJ & GGG so what's the issue?!
Good opponent.Last edited by 1g5a22; 07-09-2016, 08:01 AM.

Why did Floyd fight Marquez then?
Why did Marvin Hagler fight Leonard, Hearns and Duran then and gave us three of the best historic fights?
Who at 168 would be ready to fight GGG in September?
DeGale and Badou Jack = Have a unification at the end of the year.
Gilberto Ramirez = Hand Injury, out for 5 months
Ward busy with Brand
Kovalev fights Chilemba and then they fight each other.
Focus your hatred on the guys ducking GGG, not the other way around.
List me any other option that GGG could have fought in September.
Brook is a huge WW, the fight has a 10lb rehydration limit, so maximum fight night weight is 170.
Canelo was 175+ against Khan, who is a glass chinned WW without a belt who got knocked out by lightweights, Brook is undefeated and #1 at 147, same as Ray Leonard was when he moved up.Last edited by Jubei; 07-09-2016, 08:15 AM.

Floyd moved up 4 times and was lineal in 4 of the 5 divisions he fought in...
manny pacquiao was never a welterweight, especially when he was at is best best around 2009. weighed 138 for hatton, ffs. weigned 142 against de la hoya. 144 against margarito. 143 against marquez. 143 vs algieri.
he's not a welterweight, man.
floyd was allegedly seriously dehydrated to make 147 to fight manny. so he is a welterweight.
so he was fighting a smaller guy. can't see why you can't understnad that. manny fought at WW for the money, not becuse he couldn't fight at 140 lbs. he was 138 lbs against hatton ffs, which was at the peak of the floyd - manny feud. when floyd was in horrid IRS debt he missed weight against marquez, and it cost him well over half a million bucks. hatton - pacquiao and marquez - mayweather were only around 4 months apart.
these guys are not the same size. get that through your head, larrbear!

diminishing the fact that he was either grossly dehydrated to the point of needing an IV [medical data supports drinking water and electrolytes being a more effective means of hydration than an IV when athletes are even moderately dehydrated,] and then rehydrating with those IVS for an advantage,
or using the IV for illegal PEDS.
what's the purpose of not disclosing his weight?

why was manny 138 lbs against hatton, when floyd couldn't get lower than 146 against marquez 4 months later? cost floyd half a million dollars during a period when he was in horrible IRS trouble.
you migght not be objective enough to answer, but the reason is that manny is a smaller fighter to the tune of 1-2 weight classes in their later careers, and as many as 2-3 wieght classes earlier in their careers.
