That's ridiculous. The champion & the draw shouldn't have to bend backwards for anybody in negotiations. Should FMJ have had to bend backwards for Pac? Should DLH have had to bend backwards for FMJ? Should Mike Tyson have had to bend backwards for Holyfield? Exactly. All Eubank Jr has is a fanbase in the UK. GGG is a world-wide name that attracts crowds anywhere he fights, including on either coast of the U.S. This would be GGG's debut in the UK...& I guarantee boxing fans there are salivating to go watch this. The fact that you would make such a ridiculous statement outs you.

It's truly frustrating for sure. It's bad enough that promoters and broadcasters have created silos that negate the possibility of making some really exciting match ups; but the fighters themselves, in this case, Canelo, Saunders, Jacobs, have zero interest in trying to snatch 3 belts in one fight. I mean, how can you walk around and declare yourself a MW champ and yet refuse to unify in the ring against Golovkin? Casuals must be thinking, what the fcuk is it with these cowards?

Anyway, good on Chris Eubank Jr. if he actually signs the contract.

You are too right. Before any of these boxers hit the limelight, they were just another name trying to move up the rankings for an actual shot at a world title. And here it is...and still? Still? Hopefully we don't have to wait too long to get that signature.

Also, your username makes me smile.

Could GGG sell out the MGM and earn $3/4 million fighting Eubank Jr? No. If it weren't for Eubank Jr, GGG would be fighting Heiland at the Forum selling tickets for $30 while Heiland is making $400k. GGG needs to accept his role in this fight. Which is to shut up an show up to fight.
That's funny for you to say that GGG should shut up & show up to fight. Especially considering everyone here read the article. Additionally, Eubank Jr has done 5 times more smack talk than GGG, & the fight isn't even finalized yet. And this is not mentioning that GGG is from Kazakhstan. You wouldn't be talking so big if GGG's team had forced this fight to be held in GGG's country. The fact that GGG is more than willing to go into Eubank Jr's backyard to defend his belts says way more about GGG than it does Eubank Jr. For you to argue financial statistics when the larger revenue fight was with Canelo, who we saw vacate rather than make the fight & generate tons of money for both sides. That's a disgrace. What you're defending is a moot argument. The money is there. Who's going to argue with money if we're getting the fight anyway?

Vacating a belt AND foregoing a big windfall to avoid a possible beat down.... I'm not down with that shyt.

Eubank Jr feels he's bigger than those belts. The belts were barely mentioned in making this fight. Eubank Sr talked about the money.

Canelo's last 5 fights have made top dollar and none of them involved GGG, not even on the undercard. He has an exclusive TV deal in Mexico and a deal with Tecate. All of his fights make big money. GGG has nothing to offer Canelo but praise from hardcore boxing fans that don't even buy GGG's fights.
You're using spurious logic to come to your conclusions. Of course belts matter. No boxer is ever going to gain popularity without a belt. Even Eubank Jr owes his popularity for owning the British title. Belts matter. Otherwise, what's the point of the sport. It has always been about champion vs contender...& it will be like that long after we're gone. Champion vs contender. And how do we know who's the champion? The belt.

Secondly, you argue that the belt wasn't important because Cotto & Canelo both didn't want the belt. But you seem to leave out the fact that both fighters released their rights to the belt because neither wanted to face GGG next. And this information is going into the history book of boxing. Cotto didn't want to pay belt fees because he knew GGG was waiting in the wings...win or lose, he wasn't going to face GGG next. Canelo's duck is well-publicized. You can't argue with that one either.

And lastly, you're arguing that Canelo is the biggest ppv draw in boxing. Duh. But that has nothing to do with him fighting GGG. Canelo was considered in many rankings, including BoxRec, to be the #1 MW in the world because he owned the WBC belt & the lineal belt...some p4p rankings even had him at #1. That fact that he ran from that fight tells you that it wasn't GGG's fault (& probably Canelo's ranking was undeserving). Yet you want to make it out to be that this was GGG's fault. Bull. Too many articles to cite to disprove this logic. You only use information in a way that suits you & your argument. You have to step back from the tree in order to see the forest.

You travel when you need money. Manny, Canelo, and Floyd would sell out stadiums anywhere in the world. They don't do it because there is no need to. They make more money fighting in the US. Canelo can fill up an 80,000 seat stadium in Mexico City. Pacquiao can fill up a 100,000 seat stadium in General Santos City. Floyd went to Russia and held a workout where people paid to come see him. Not a fight, a workout. It's levels to this.
Spurious logic again. Vegas is the fight capital of the world. If you're fighting in Vegas on ppv events, you've made it. And fighting in vegas means you're getting paid. But that doesn't mean a boxer can't go somewhere else & make money. Vegas is just an iconic thing where fighters build their brand. Who are you to say that a boxer who regularly fights in vegas can't make good money fighting somewhere else?

Jessie Vargas is getting paid 3 times his highest purse for travelling. You're telling me GGG is getting his standard purse which should tell you he doesn't have a leg to stand on in negotiations.
GGG would be fighting Canelo if Canelo hadn't ducked. And then GGG would be fighting Saunders if Saunders hadn't ducked. Eubank Jr. is plan C. You're trying to make it like Eubank Jr. is the A-side who is throwing the MW champion GGG a bone, when it's the other way around. Your statements aren't fooling anybody.
