What can Canelo do (other than fight GGG) to win you back as a fan?

Start with no more BS fights like Khan.
Trinidad came into the Hopkins with massive momentum beating Vargas, Reid, and Joppy all by stoppage. Ideally unifying 154 beating Smith, Charlo/Williams, Charlo/Andrade would be best. Beating BJS and maybe T.Johnson would be good. A Cotto rematch would be bad. BJS & Jacobs would be impressive.

ESPN's version of boxing and its followers go with Chavez Sr.'s assessment, and pops was always favoring (or course) and telling the public of an Alvarez vs Chavez Jr. bout and they've never been cool. Different Mexican states and rivalry. Just like old school Barrera vs Morales. Chavez Sr., Bernstein, and ESPN have been talking bad about Alvarez for the longest ever since the Mayweather bout, and at first they were rooting for him too.
All those pressures against Alvarez I doubt he cares what the public thinks. I still think Alvarez has enough juice to turtle up against Golovkin and wear out his jab. If he battle tested himself against Kirkland' barrage on the ropes I don't see Golovkin hurting Alvarez the same way as Alvarez is massively accurate on counter attacks. Lil'G been caught many times. I saw Alvarez wears out Lil'G for the UD. Not an easy fight for Alvarez based on scoring. Mexicans come tough. Rubio is not from that League.

I'm not going to hold it against a guy if he has the ability to make a certain weight, though I never liked him holding MW belts hostage at 155 and called him on that from the day the Cotto fight was signed.
My only issue is winning the middleweight title at a silly weight limit and fighting as the 'champion'. The fact is that it wasn't so much about winning the title, but more about facing Cotto which was the biggest fight available. Once that was done, he's given up the title to go back to 154. I don't mind that at all. I'd like to see the GGG fight now, but if he's going back to 154 to finish off some stuff there, that's fine. I'm sure we'll end up seeing the GGG fight pretty soon.
He's fought Floyd, Cotto, Lara, Angulo, Khan (yeah, yeah), Kirkland, and Trout in just the last few years and he's only just reached his mid twenties. These are the types of guys we are always saying we want our fighters to be, and then when one fight doesn't work out, everyone goes into conniptions and has a ****ing mass hissy fit.
If he fights GGG, awesome. Would love to see it. If he doesn't, then as long as he keeps fighting the type of fights he has been taking over the last few years, I have no problem with him at all. The Khan fight, for the 160 title, was just silly. There's no doubt, but that was one fight so far. Considering the amount of really ****ty fights other top guys take, I'm willing to give him that, because he's still taking other tough, big fights. As long as it stays that way, I'm cool with it. One fight falling through against a guy who has taken a million ****tier fights himself doesn't negate an entire career.Last edited by BennyST; 07-04-2016, 06:15 AM.
