People give Canelo grief because at age 25 and after already fighting the best at 154 he is not yet ready to move up and fight the best at 160 despite never weighing more then 155 or having fought a single Middleweight. Meanwhile older guys like Wilder who turns 31 in a couple months has fought close to 40 pro fights and STILL refuses to fight the best in his OWN division which he has fought at for 8 years. And during this entire stretch he has fought only 1 MAYBE 2 top 10 ranked fighters? And not 1 elite fighter in his division. And his promoter flat out says don't expect him to fight any of those top guys anytime soon. The double standards people have in boxing, Canelo it's time for him to go to 160 and fight GGG (who is 34 and himself refuses to move up and fight guys at 168 BECAUSE he is playing the risk/reward game and it's a greater risk to go up and fight bigger guys so he rather stay at 160 fighting bums while he tries to convince smaller fighters at welterweight and super welterweight to fight him). Wilder refusing to step up fighting bums so he doesn't lose and prevent a potential huge money fight a year or years from now.
They are all playing the same game except Canelo is younger and already taken far more risks and fought better competition. When do we put more blame on the older guys who are fighting bums to step it up?Last edited by bigdunny1; 06-30-2016, 09:50 AM.
