Comments Thread For: "Fighting Words" - Keith Thurman: Once Upon A "One Time"

by David P. Greisman - Once upon a time, Keith Thurman was someone who didn't yet deserve to be on television but landed a prime slot anyway. That time was just four years ago. So much has changed over the course of seemingly so little. This past Saturday, Thurman's prime slot was...

Very well written article. There's no doubt that Keith Thurman has a very bright future ahead. However, I think both Thurman and Porter will end up facing Errol Spence and when that happens no one will remember Thurman vs Porter anymore...

Thurman is easy to hate and has a big mouth but can fight well

Port can never beat Thurman.Thurman beat Porter fair and square even if the crown and all the fans hated the decision. Thurman is hated and will never be a boxing star but the kid mini man with the big mouth can fight well. Thurman is just unlikable and easy to hate.

Zero interest in horse tail hair Thurman in American boxing now

Thurman is hated in America and will never be a star attraction. Fans hate the arrogant horse taIL Hair Thurman that ;little mini half pinst dwarf. If dwarf Thurman walked into any man's bar in the USA the little big mouth midget Thurman would be given a wedgie and have his pontytail cut off and then slapped around and laughed at. That pint sized munchkin Thurman is a small joke.

I think Thurman is a cool guy and a good fighter, I just don't think he's the guy to beat at 147. Saw a lot of holes in his game against Porter. Porter is considered by most to be a poor boxer who lacks skill, yet according to many people, he beat Thurman. Plus when is the last time that "one time" KO'd someone? His power is greatly overrated. I'd be surprised if he gets any more KOs in his career unless he reverts to fighting some Salka-type fighters. It's looking like Spence is the most skilled and well rounded fighter at 147.

I was impressed. I thought Porter would tough it out and keep pressure on him, but whenever he did that, Thurman responded. He's not the man at 147, but he's one of the guys you gotta respect.

              For me in Welters its:

              1. Timothy Bradley
              2. Kell Brook
              3. Errol Spence
              4. Keith Thurman

Isn't that what makes fighters exciting to watch, having a bit of vulnerability? Especially when they are willing to lay everything on the line despite their short comings. Arturo Gatti made a career doing that. Not the greatest fighter, but he always sold tickets b/c he was exciting to watch and he was either going to dish the knockout or receive it lol. Sure its great to watch a guy like Mayweather who you know is going to dominate every fight, but I would much rather watch a young lion who's hungry who may not be the biggest or the strongest, but has the most heart.
