I was watching that fight and cant help but notice how crappy and amateurish Porter's punching technique looked. His offensive rushes looked straight garbage.
You would think a guy that's been in the game for awhile and has had that much repetition put in would have a little better punching technique.

yeah he is horrible, but he is a swarmer now, before he was even worse remember when he started boxing this dude was always bouncing on his feet wasting energy I think he even got hurt a few times against a former lightweight.
He apparently had a good amateur background though.
But his style is ugly and sloppy and relies too much on smushing guys. He rushes in and runs into shots like Ricky Hatton. Thurman countered him coming in several times but Porter took the shots well.
What shocked me the most was his ability to take those clean step back counters by Thurman, Porter must have been really weight drained against Broner he got dropped by a broner shot that wasn't even fully loaded, against Thurman he looked huge, and Thurman hit him with a vicious flush counter right on the chin and Porter never dropped.
But he did enough to at least get a draw in my eyes even with that ugly style, he had Thurman running creating a new nickname Run Time.
They should have had the fight a draw, the crowd had Porter winning on pure aggression and he did land some sloppy shots, in boxing its not really about how good you look its how effective you are, a lot of Floyd fans dont understand this, they are new tot he sport and think you have to look pretty no, you can throw with your head low and jump mid air as long as the shots land thats all that matters,Last edited by hectari; 06-28-2016, 12:45 PM.

Wasn't this guy originally a football player?
I think he just tried to get creative and mesh both of the sports together.
I can see, the only decent thing about him, is his actual footwork--very athletic in that regard.
But his punches do come out sloppy from all the aggressive posturing.
Can't change him now though.

can we at least agree on that?
I noticed it before the Kell Brook fight. They did the same thing then.
What gets me is Kenny Porter's weird serial killer esque smile.
