That's not ASB problem. The contract was signed by Canelo and his manager, Chepo Reynoso. Canelo should sue Chepo. ASB made sure everything was explained to him and his manager. His manager also had an adviser that explained everything to them

At the sitting of Tuesday, also it was read to the jury the written deposition of Rafael Mendoza of Mexico, star witness in the case with 55 years in the boxing business, and who was present at the time when Canelo was signed by All Star in 2008 .

Mendoza has had under his tutelage about 26 world champions. In his statement he let the court know that he was advisor to Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, the current manager of Canelo. He rejected the claim that the contract Canelo signed was only to obtain a work visa.

It is not looking great for them. Personally I cannot believe they did not try to settle this up before going to court.

I'm not saying this is ASB's problem. I'm not saying this is even Canelo's problem. This is clearly GBP's problem.

I guess super binding contracts sound a lil nuts to me. Like you write your name on a piece of paper with some other typed words on it & you could have totally f#cked up your life. That all seems a lil ridiculous to me that words on paper can f#ck **** up so bad for someone.

And I'm not even saying this in regards to this situation necessarily, I'm saying in general. All these mfers in this courtroom are gonna be doing fine whatever happens in this case, just some a lil better or worse than others is all that changes for them so its not THAT big a deal in the grand scheme of things for any of this cats really, but lotsa regular cats get put into ****ty situations cuz of sketchy contracts & not being smart enough to know what things mean or even to read or look into the possible ramifications of putting their name on a piece of paper. I mean it is what is it, but it seems like the way it is is a lil f#cked up cuz the cost is a lot of less than well off people get f#cked over from the ****** to the desperate to the elderly.

        /rant lol

I believe GBP made several settlement offers over the last 5 years this case has been pending. ASB has just declined them all.

Canelo was a child back then... Oscar should be responsible for the actual wrongdoing...

Punitive damages in Florida can be 3x's the amount of the judgement. That's how Hulk Hogan won so much money against Gawker. To even appeal the decision you have to put down a percentage of the judgement which goes to the plantiff if your appeal is denied. Twenty-seven million is a lot of money. Now multiply that by 3. Best case scenario is multiply that by two. Out of all the recent lawsuits filed, Garcia, Ward, TR vs. PBC, Golden Boy vs PBC, this seems like the most credible yet it's getting the least coverage. You would think that the biggest star in boxing taking the stand would be front page news all boxing websites.

Mayweather and Cotto gift? Are u FKN HIGH??

First el Lumpy Cotto lost and couldn't even faze Canelo. Go watch the last round and see Cotto do the Stanley leg.

2nd Mayweather SCHOOLED him. You want to see a BEATDOWN go watch Kov. Vs. Pascal...Or if you want to stick with Mayweather Go watch his "BEATDOWNS" of Diego and Gatti.

The fact that GBP declined to pay the $250k for the rights to Canelo, suggests that they were aware he was under contract with ASB. Of course, they had to be raising hell when GBP was pulling this. Sounds like they just snatched Canelo & gave ASB the finger. Oscar screwed up big time! ******* is a hell of a drug...

Didn't say GBP potentially losing $81M was gonna be something he's celebrating about. Just saying Oscar will be cool whatever happens. And ASB will be cool. And Canelo will be cool. I mean worse case for Oscar is he'll need to rebuild or file bankruptcy for GBP & work his way back up from there, but he'll be Oscar & people will surely file in behind him to help him achieve whatever he does afterwards. Worse case for ASB is their lottery ticket came up a loser.

I was mainly ranting about way less well off people that get trapped over contractually ****.

Canelo was young, but of legal age when he signed the contract with ASB. He turned 18 in July 2008 & signed in September of that year. Oscar did pull a snake move though, albeit a very ****** one- that is now biting him through his fishnet stockings & in his ass!
