Comments Thread For: Jorge Linares Inks New Pact With Golden Boy

LOS ANGELES - Unbeaten since 2012 and recognized as one the top lightweight fighters in the world, WBC Lightweight World Champion Jorge "El Nio De Oro" Linares (40-3, 27 KOs) will continue to cement his legacy as a member of the Golden Boy Promotions roster, retaining the Los Angeles-based company founded by Oscar De La Hoya as his United States promoter.

Good deal for Linares lets hope he can get a fight with Crolla, bring him to the US you've already fought once over in England and they were on track to robbing the WBC title off him before he KOed Kevin lol.

Nothing surprises me anymore but I think they might try get him as co-mainevent against a good fighter in September... could Hearn be willing to let Crolla go over to the US for that one?

Crolla is a borderline Box Office fighter in the UK, so I doubt he travels (especially with the understanding that Linares has fought all of five fights in the US, with his last US appearance being 2 years ago).

Terry Flanagan (WBO champ) in an all-Manchester clash, Mickey Bey (if he were to beat Rances Barthelemy, IBF champ) on the brewing Matchroom Sport versus Mayweather Promotions show for the early Fall, or Dejan Zlaticanin (incoming WBC champion, with Linares being declared emeritus) are all available for Crolla, in fights that would happen in the UK.

What leverage does Linares earnestly have?

Fighting on a Canelo Alvarez undercard on September is better than anything that can be offered to Crolla.

I honestly don't think so, especially in the face of Crolla-Flanagan being a fight that could sell out the 21k-seat Manchester Arena as the headline fight.

What's the point of having two promoters? All I see is you gotta pay two promoters.

Good for both Linares and Golden Boy. Linares is a special talent with elite offensive skils.

My guess both he and Lucas return on Canelos next Pay Per View.

                  Something like:

                  Canelo vs GGG
                  Lucas vs Frankie Gomez
                  Linares vs Crolla
                  Diaz vs Rios
