Comments Thread For: David Haye is Aiming To Raise 50K For Nick Blackwell

As much as everyone thinks Haye is a c*nt. This is actually a really nice thing to do. Funny how you don't see any other boxers chipping in like this, esp Eubank.

We obviously don't know what Eubank has done for Blackwell behind the scenes. Eubank also hasn't fought yet so we don't know what his plans are.

Not everyone would make it public. But good gesture from Haye either way.

I think David Haye is a great person and fighter. To blame him for just one off night against Klitschko would not be fair. For example, how many times has the 'great' Hopkins failed to impress and went for 12 boring fights with a fighter he claimed he would stop?

Other than the Klitschko fight, Haye has been phenomenal so far in beating everyone in front of him with brute force and is the only one to really hurt Chisora something which Vitali could not do for 12 rounds. I really can't see why there is so much hatred. He had a real injury against Fury because of which he took a break from boxing later on. Why would he be afraid of fighting this clumsy heavyweight clown any way? He would destroy him if they fought now!

I love David haye now, but I feel guilty that I used to want him to lose. And I don't know why I felt like that.
I think it's because he's getting older now and I missed seeing him fight. But I want him to win no matter who he fights now. I can't explain my complete turnaround and it's got nothing to do with him raising money for Nicky although that's nice of him.
I want him to beat josh, although josh seems like a good boy. I'd want him to beat wilder and the Swiss guy.

I'm sure it's partly to do with PR, of course it is.

However Haye is a decent bloke. I won't give too many details but a close family friend of mine works with a charity that Haye does a LOT of work for and donates and does plenty of great gestures for without any publicity. I'd give details because i'm sure if he wanted everyone to know, they would.

I'm not naive enough to think there isn't a PR aspect to the Blackwell thing but at the end of the day he doesn't HAVE to do it.

Win or lose, boring or exciting, Hopkins always left you with the feeling that he did everything he could to try to win the fight. That's not the feeling Haye left us with against Klitschko.

That may or may not be true. But £50,000 will be much appreciated I'm sure and will go a long way towards helping Blackwell transition to the next phase of his life.

What other boxers have stepped up to give him a hand?

What did Fury do for Blackwell?
Nothing, too tight to get his hand out his pocket cheap skate.
