Are you 'new wave' boxing fans banking on mandatory defenses as being a PPV draw...

What I said had nothing to do with mandatory defences being PPV draws.

What I meant was that Manny was never a mando for Floyd and Floyd never gave up a world title to avoid fighting him. If that had happened, Foyd would have lost fans because of it. So would Manny, if it had been the other way round.

I followed the dealings between Floyd and Manny closely, and there was never a time when either one of them clearly ducked the other.

Whenever negotiations broke down, Floyd's fans always blamed Manny and Manny's fans always blamed Floyd. Neutrals didn't know who to blame, so neither of them lost any fans.

This fight was a couple of days away from going to purse bid, which per the WBC rules states a 55/45 split.

Golovkin is not getting anything close to 45%,.

I had faith in this kid. First time I saw him box, I don't even remember whose undercard he was on. All me and my friends spoke about was "did you see the ginger kid?" Nobody even mentioned the main event. His technique was as textbook as I'd seen in a long time. His patience and shot selection were beyond his years. He'd been brought through the classic Mexican way - learning his trade against a steady stream of professionals. Amassing more fights as a youngster than most fighters have in an entire career.

He went through decent level fighters for where he was at. When Trout scuppered the Cotto bout, he fought the man that beat the man. He ignored his promoters safety first advice and ordered him to make the Lara fight. I started wondering whether we had ourselves a throwback here. I accepted the Lopez fight. I wouldn't begrudged a fighter the odd easy pay day now and again. Same thing with Khan. But I can't accept this.

Where's the entertainment value? The suits grip on the sport have made it insipid. As fans we're being milked dry and receive next to nothing in return from high end boxing. Social media makes it easy to whip up a soap opera that disguises **** as sugar. Maybe we get what we deserve because we keep tuning in and the casuals keep coming back not matter how many times they're burnt.

Mayweather Pacquiao soured my enthusiasm for the sport. Mainly on Floyd's part. I just wanted one fight where he played for the challenge rather than the hustle. For all his talk of legacy and entertainment he cared for neither. The further from the fight I get the more pathetic Manny's performance on the night becomes. The bout damaged boxing. Half dead Hollywood actors and long retired sport stars whored ringside for attention little realising they'd attended a public mugging amd they were the victims. People filed law suits to get their money back.

This one could have gone some way to repairing the damage. An actual fight worthy of the name. Personally, I'm at a crossroads here. My love for the sport is waivering as it often does from time to time. The promoters, the managers, fighters and their advisors along with the alphabet organisations and the TV companies with their hired mouth pieces are making the whole experience of being a boxing fan very ****in' tiresome.

I'm holding out hope that it isn't the case but if this kid has dumped his belt and walked away from a fight that the sport needs then I think I might be about done. I'll go back to watching black & white footage and reading about fighters that actually fought their main rivals.

I mean, what kind of Mexican who professes not to "**** around" would take advice from Oscar De La Hoya? The latter rounds back peddler. The butt-plug back scuttler. He was the idol of the walls of teenage girl's bedrooms, not an idol of the barrios. There's a rich tradition of Mexican fighting that he pissed on long before he paid **********s to water sport his fish nets.

I hope to god that this kid isn't following suit. For the sports sake and mine.

That's simple - the mindset or problem (whatever one calls it) is that Canellita is scared to death. Talks the talk after KOing glass chiined 147lber but fails to walk the walk.

                      Mr. New Wave,

Since u followed them so close you would have known FMJ threatened to drop the WBC belt when they made Manny his mandatory..So like I stated earlier it didn't affect his drawing power.
