Would Wilder have fought povetkin last year knowing he was taking melodium ?

I get that a banned substance is banned and a positive test is a positive test and Wilder had every right to walk away but this is a unique situation.

some of the reasons he gave about boxing being dangerous enough without peds don't make alot of sense in these circumstances.

So I wonder had someone told Wilder and his team that half of Russia including Povetkin was taking an obscure Latvian drug which has some tenuous links to increased performance, would have have said no way and pulled out for safety reasons ?

Haymon paid the Russian mob to put that sh.it in Povetkin's cereal.

You know that melodium was banned starting with Jan 1st, 2016...

Yes but last year it wasn't. It's effects haven't changed from 2015 to 2016.

          The issue is shady enough.

... But: never deal with Russians from Russia. The "rule of law" never existed there.

He wouldn't have fought him at all unless he was his mandatory for like over a year and he was about to be stripped.

There are still legal PEDs out there, that are on WADA monitoring list, that any athlete can be taking legally right now, just like Meldonium was this time last year

I imagine few, Wilder included, knew wtf this substance even was in 2015 so nah it wouldn't have played into anything with the fight. I think I'm more following PED **** then the average person & I only vaguely recall hearing of this drug about to be banned before 2016 & knew nothing of it beyond that.

Most of the time it can be unknown or relatively unknown. WADA adds new things to the list every year. They are always playing catch-up to PED abusers, and so is everyone else not cheating. Things like 'The Clear' was used for years before it got known, banned, and arrests were made.

I'm not defending Povektin but it was only 70 nanograms, that won't help at all during the fight
