on his way up he definitely reminded me of a fusion dance with Bhops and Jones. As he has aged and matured as a fighter, he is more Floyd and Hopkins. VERY technical, can spoil but is athletic for his weight like Floyd.


those 3 are the ones i knew from day one he studied. He just confirmed it in this interview and others.

He used to throw a lot more lead hooks and rights in his younger days but his jab is one of the best ive seen in a long time. very versatile.

In his younger days he used to emulate him, especially before the super six and before he found his ring identity.

The bolo punches...the leaping hooks and uppercuts...hotdogging....nowadays he is all business but in his younger days he used to remind me of roy....moreso roy and hopkins combined. As far as floyd, that jab to the body, his defense, countering the jab and taking it away, etc.

Ward is like a walking boxing textbook...he isnt quite the freak of nature roy was or even floyd at 130 but he is above average athleticism for 160-175 plus the know how of a hopkins...no wonder the kid hasnt lost since the 90s

Jones Jr was entertaining dunno where he draws that comparison and I can't even be bothered listening to him too boring but Hopkins yes, Mayweather hell no.

naseem tried to be roy and got his head knocked off. Ward does lead with big punches at times which is roy esque but like he said hes his own fighter. A great fighter will learn from other greats which I think Ward does. He's most like B Hop in my eyes though, an awesome tactician and ring general.

I have always said he was a combo of all 3
