So in reality, that connect rate doesn't really mean much when one guy is finishing his fights early and quite often.
That's a dead end argument there when you factor in the level of competition. Not even close.

Barrera landed 19% of his shots, against an Andre Ward who seemed to clearly not be all the way sharp yet. Ward will most likely be far more sharper for a June/July fight, with his sharpness picking up for the clash in November.

Punch or no punch, Kovalev is a physically smaller man than Sullivan Barrera is. To assume that Kovalev is going to land at drastically higher rates than Barrera did against a Ward who wasn't all the way sharp, you're fooling yourself.

Kovalev just needs to land one to the chin than it's nap time

worried that a fight might be competitive

          god forbid

cancel this event and change it to a kovalev VS lamont peterson/ward vs angulo doubleheader

I thought Ward looked on point defensively it was his offense that was lacking. He barely threw a right hand all night.

What worries me about Ward is that his right hand is non-existent. He's going to have to get Kovalev's respect to keep him at bay and I"m not sure he can do that with one arm.

People are such fantasists when it comes to Kovalev. He's not a 1-punch KO guy. Ward is the statistically hardest to hit he's ever fought but he's somehow going 1-punch him? Not impossible but come on...

power is only part of the equation, its about how you apply it

Kovalev breaks you down with hard crisp shots...he isnt bob foster man, and he doesnt have many onepunch kos, if any...I havent seen them. Even Agnew lasted past 6 rounds and he is a novice

to think Kovalev is gonna run through someone like Ward, who is proven and hungry for greatness is a joke to me.

Froch is gonna wreck Ward... I just don't see how Ward will keep him at bay..

Saying Kovalev wins is a reasonable opinion but "wreck"? He wrecked but couldn't finish a 50 year old Hopkins. Ward is way, way past where Hopkins is. Kovalev is real solid, but isbeing oversold based on so-so competition. Kovalev hasn't ever had a foe like this and Ward hasn't had one in a few years.
I agree with this. I think you almost have to be a boxer, have spent time in the ring to really understand how good Ward is.
