Stop bashing Mayweather for being smart

You're all ragging on him for waiting on De La Hoya. I think you're just a bunch of Margarito fans who think Tony's slow ass has a good chance to win. Mayweather is going to make at least 8 million for fighting De La Hoya AND be able to say he whooped up on the Golden Boy. Who wouldn't take that fight? Someone ******, that's who. Margarito is going to be around. De La Hoya is not. DLH is going to be retired by 2007, which means Mayweather has no choice but to take the fight now. Margarito fans, all I can say is shut up and pray for Mayorga to win on May 6th.

I see what your saying but you can't totally dismiss a fighter like Floyd has done with Tony and then not taking the biggest payday of your career against him. That's just not in the cards.

Mayweather isn't the mover at 147 that he was at the lighter weights. That plays into Tony's favor. I'm really starting to think he just doesn't want the pressure that Margarito is going to bring. But at the end of the day, I just wish Floyd would be upfront and honest about it.

pardon my french - but who gives a **** if he's "smart". smart fighters don't end up as the true greats of an era. floyd is cheating boxing fans by not taking this bout. if he takes the fight with dlh, it also adds nothing to his legacy. he's a smart businessman, but he's got all of the money in the world right now. it's time to fight for glory.

What are you, his Publicist? the DLH fight will never ever happen and Floyd knows that. Dlh won't fight him, he won't take a chance on taking a beating in his last fight. Mayweather is just SCARED!!!!!!! He'd rather say he is the best than proving it in the ring.

Floyd's last 4 or 5 fights have been jokes. He got a pass for fighting the likes of Bruseles because he was moving up in weight. Then he fought Gatti for the big money. Then he fights Judah, who just lost because it was a big money fight. Point is that none of those fighters were the top contenders. Now hes going to pass on Margarito, the longest reigning welter to fight another big money fight agaist De la hoya, who hasnt looked impressive in three years. I understand he wants to get paid, but this is ridiculous.

thanks, it's the truth. he is trying to pull a Muhammad Ali, by verbally beating into our brains that he is the best, thus making people believe it. Ali actually fought the best though, Floyd is just trying to talk his way to the HOF
