Alvarez isn't ready for Golovkin, he's like a food crop that's not ready to be harvested. Let Canelo grow another year and then pick him, he'll be worth more.

For me right now, Canelo/Golovkin is more freak show than super fight. The reason being, Canelo has never beaten a fighter at 160lbs and now you're asking him to beat the best fighter at 160lbs. Canelo's best wins at 154lbs weren't even that convincing-Lara, Trout, Cotto. He's not destroying guys like Tito was doing.

So for the time being, any thoughts of 'GGG' facing Hopkins is being tabled. But Loeffler did state - "Look, Bernard's the biggest name (Sergey) Kovalev fought so it would be a great opponent for Gennady."

This proposed bout would take place at 168 pounds.

But does this go against their stated goal of collecting all the belts in the middleweight division?

Loeffler explained - "I've always said that if there's a middleweight champion willing to fight him, it's always going to be the priority. If (Billy Joe) Saunders isn't going to fight, if 'Canelo's (Saul Alvarez) is not going to fight, we would consider a marketable name at 168 and Hopkins is more active than (Andre) Ward is, so it makes sense."

Does it make sense to fight Hopkins @ 168, and not Andre Ward? Of course it is...NOT!

      cringe-worthy

and, could it be any more obvious ?

Ggg can always do PPV fights with his Mandatories..

        Gran Turino.
        Billy Ho
        Jorge Hieland
        Alfonso Blanca from the Bronx...

While Canelo can fight the winner of Peterson/Thurman. Cotto/Brook and a sht ton of other guys..

        My $$$$$ is on Canelo.

GGG can stick to the B-Side. And have the WORST resume EVER. He's gonna have to buy a ticket to the boxing Hall of fame. Because he ain't getting in. GGG won't move up or DOWN in weight to make a Super fight. FACT

I HOPE it goes to purse BID!!!! K2 poor ass would get ****D. They would pull a Katy Duva move.

Didn't they say this before the Canelo v Cotto fight, that the winner has 15 days to make a deal to fight GGG?

Freak show? In their 30 day weigh ins and fight night weights, Canelo weigh's more than Golovkin. Also, saying Canelo's best wins at 154 weren't convincing is not a weight issue, that's down to his talent.

At the end of the day, whatever peoples opinion is, GGG is mandatory for that belt, so Canelo should either fight him or vacate. If he wants to carry around a middleweight belt posing as a middleweight champion, then he should fight his middleweight title mandatory.

If he did vacate and said he's not ready, fair enough. Just be honest and say you're not ready for the fight and stop holding the belt hostage if you won't fight middleweights. It just makes a mockery of the rules and history.

Which mandatory can are you looking forward the most to GGG fighting??? Gran Turino??? With special guest ref. Clint Eastwood???Colonel Saunders?? Hieland Silver?? With his 4 losses???

We both know GGG will never be great and move up in weight. Hes the Adrien Broner if AB stayed at LW.

And GGG acts like he wants to be remembered as an ALL time Great but won't do sht to make it happen. He's gonna go down as having the WORST resume EVER for a champion. No one will care about this FRAUD in 5-10 years. His best win will be Martin Murphy. And Willie Monroe lol. He will be known as the guy who could beat ANYONE from 154-168 but NEVER moving up or down. 154-168 but ONLY at 160???? How the *** does that go???

                GGG a lying sack sht.

At least he wants to fight the other champions in his division, i.e Canelo. Which is more than can be said about Canelo.

I like GGG but i agree his resume right now isn't great. But when the other big name champion in his weight class won't fight him, what can he do? And then they probably still wouldn't give him any credit if he beat Canelo anyway.

He can move up to 168 but who is really there right now that people are going to give him credit for. The best 168 fighters now are the likes of DeGale and Badou Jack. I actually rate DeGale but is anybody really going to say it's a great win if GGG went up and beat him? of course not.

The fact is, the only fights out there that would make people happy and give him credit are probably up at 175, which is a bit of a stretch for a guy who isn't even a big Middleweight.

Don't get me wrong if Canelo doesn't fight GGG in Sept. I'm done rooting for Canelo. But GGG doesn't seem to want to do anything to make a big fight either.

I would love to see GGG fight DeGale or even Andre Dirrell. Over any MW. This is my list of favorite like to see GGG fight.

Canelo at above 157. Prefer 160
                      Ward at 168
                      DeGale 168
                      Dirrell 168
                      Lara 157/158
                      Brook 157/158

I DO NOT want to see no Colonel Saunders who would be a 18-1 underdog. Or any other Crappy MW.

                      The MW division is DogSht.
