Comments Thread For: 'Fighting Words' - Andre Ward: The Second Coming of the Son of God

by David P. Greisman - Andre Ward has been seen as one of the best fighters in the world for several years.

Ward has barely been seen in the past several years.

That much has been said before, said again and then said even more. He beat the best super middleweight around in 2009 when he won a decision over Mikkel Kessler

I look forward to seeing what the current version of Andre Ward can do. Does he still have it? Can he look elite against a big, tough, legit 175 pounder?

        We're going to find out.

How does this guy make any type of headlines, it's not even possible to place a bet on his fight with Barrera.

Why you hate Ward so much ?

It was Froch who beat the piss out of Bute, not Ward

Ward's had a frustrating career but be accomplished so much in so little time he hasn't missed out on anything. The only fighter that emerged as a worthy contender at 168 during his absence was Carl Froch who he already dominated while not 100%. Just goes to show how wack boxing has been lately.

I'm looking forward to this fight to see how Ward can handle a true 175 pounder. He has a mean, physical style and likes to tussle inside and work so the question is whether he can push around bigger men. Barrera is a good lead in to the Kovalev fight which will establish a new p4p King.

Froch is OK, I like him... It wasn't Froch who ducked Bute, it was Ward... he also ducked the Froch rematch in Nottingham, remember?
