Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Questions The Legitimacy of Canelo's Punching Power

NEW YORK Amir Khan realizes he'll encounter the biggest, supposedly strongest opponent of his 10-year career May 7 in Las Vegas.

The confident Brit just isn't sure Canelo Alvarez is as much of a power puncher as critics of their WBC middleweight championship showdown consider the Mexican superstar. The 25-year-old Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) is about a 5-1 favorite over the 29-year-old Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) partially because Khan has been knocked out in lightweight and junior welterweight fights.

Canelo will answer those questions quickly and destructively.

I don't have a problem with this comment. Khans the one that has to fight him, so he has the right to ask that question.

Canelo definitely isn't a 1-punch KO kind of guy. But, he has real power and more than enough to 1-punch someone with a history like Kahn's. I really don't think it willbe wise for Khan to stay in the pocket for longer than it takes to throw a punch and retreat. Canelo is deceptively quick as of late.

This dude is just asking for a knockout loss at this point.

Khan talking about the legitimacy of someone's power. This guy was floored by Julio Diaz, Danny Garcia, and a host of other dudes who were not known as punchers. Canelo is going to be the strongest, biggest, and most powerful puncher he'd ever faced. If he happens to survive Canelo for 12 rounds, it would simply be a case of his style allowing him to evade major blows, rather than Khan actually being able to take a clear punch to the face by Canelo, but he will lose anyway.

And we've been questioning the sanity of Mr. Khan for a decade.

Khan is beginning to have second thoughts, but I'll help him along. NOooo, Canelo doesn't hit hard at all. Don't worry. WAhahah. He should have thought about Canelo's power before he signed on the dotted line. Don't woose out now.
