    Weight difference = 8 pounds
This is after flushed out of water to make weight so we can assume this is lean muscle

There are real limits on how fast it is possible to build muscle.

"Hypertrophy of the muscle complex has, so far, been shown to be controlled by what is known as protein turnover (the breakdown of damaged muscle proteins and creation of new and stronger ones). This process takes time"

"In the muscles, protein turnover rate occurs approximately every 180 days (6 months). This lends even more support to the observation that the turnover rate limits the natural body (of the non drug-using athlete, bodybuilder) in building muscle quickly."

"Keep in mind that it's physiologically impossible to gain more than one pound of lean muscle per week. For most weight-gainers, half a pound per week would be an even more realistic goal, because they reach their genetic limit. Remember that gaining muscle is a long-term project and not something that can be simply turned on."

Bear in mind that for Khan his training cannot be focused entirely on gaining muscle. He has to work on his cardio and his technique as well. Building max muscle requires a lot of rest.

Hence I don't believe Khan can put on 7 pounds of lean muscle in the time. He may come in heavier than you think but that will be additional fat and water.
"Those who scoff at this and continue to believe they've gained super size over such a short period forget, as suggested earlier, that much of the increased body weight is largely due to increased body fat stores, glycogen and water."

When Canelo weighs in at 155 he will be lean and dehydrated. Khan won't be. He will likely be short around 4 or 5 pounds of lean muscle and that translates into a lot more weight on fight night.

Nobody can know whether his very real skills will carry him through (I very much doubt it) but Khan is going to be at a significant weight and strength disadvantage on fight night and no amount of training is going to make that up no matter who tells you it will.

You are correct, but that really is obvious.

Khan should not be attempting to match Canelo for size in 12 weeks.

    Pointless, and silly.

He should attempt to beat Canelo as what he is, the smaller man...... using speed/skills, like he said in the article.

    Many have done it.

    Mayweather/Pacquiao/Mosley/Cotto all did it.

This fight, while from left-field, aint as crazy as some are making out.

In saying that, I think Canelo will stop Khan.

I agree with you man. Canelo took flush shots from Cotto and Lara and didn't flinch...I doubt Khan can move him. He also worked with the speed of Mayweather. I just don't see what Khan can bring to the table to keep Canelo off of him.

I think everyone would agree with me that khans fight against devon Alexander was as close to a punch perfect performance from khan since he fought Kotelnik over 6 years ago. How ever take a look at Khans face post Devon fight, thats quite a marked up face given that he didnt seem to get hit much during them 12 rounds, so if a 147 pounder who is not noted as a big power puncher can do that to khans face... What is gonna be the outcome when Canelo lands?

An impossible task for the man who struggled against Chris Algieri.
Khan's ego and a nice paycheck have lured him into a path that will end his career. It will also end the misery of having to listen to his relentless whining.

                      "Khan is 165 right now."

Sure. But that isn't lean muscle weight, that's walking around weight.
