Im curious to see how pbc turns out, to me its one of the riskiest investments, haymon really put a lot of pressure on his back to try and build up a sport like boxing again. This is a very tough task, if he succeeds he will be called the savior of boxing
I think it was a critical mistake for the PBC to go the time-buy route to choke out the competition. They could've established themselves as an actual promotional outfit and used their massive amount of cash to supplement fight purses with the usual network revenue to get big fights on basic-cable channels, then choke out competition with quality fights instead of quantity. Also to keep their fights in smaller venues and actually sell tickets, instead of comping out arenas and killing the markets.

well as long as some guy on twitter who wants the pbc to fail said so i believe it. the reality is people dont even understand the business model even a little people cant comprehend that there is not suppposed to be return on investment right now. The whole business model is to buy tv time then when the bought time is up they will negotiate contracts with networks and thats when the money will start to come in. Not only that but networks will have more say over which fights happen as well and for those who say why would networks want pbc with the current ratings just go do some comparisons with ufc and look at the money they are getting.
Until people understand the business model which is not supposed to start getting money back yet we wil keep having these same pointless anti pbc hope they fail threads. Until people realize the entire plan is to buy tv time then when its over to negotiate with certain networks this endless bs will continue. I honestly dont think people understand what pbc is doing cause its like people think when they run out of money its over even tho that chest is only supposed to get them to the end of the time buys.
This doesnt mean it will work but can we at least be honest and understand what the business model is? We wont know if its going to work or not until the time buys are over and we see what kind of contracts the networks are offering. Personally i think the networks will offer far better contracts then people anticipate. The only thing left that is very valuable to networks is live sports because almost everyone watches them live which means more add revenue which means less dvr and waiting for repeats. Theres a reason networks are looking for live sports. Not only that but boxing and pbc has a pretty high ceiling and its pretty clear they are bidding their time with certain fights until the time buys are over.
People have to understand the game plan is not to do time buys for ever its more of an audition before the contracts are negotiated. I swear people want pbc to fail so badly that they dont even realize what pbc is doing
