Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Coach: Stevenson is a Better Fan Fight Over Andre Ward

John David Jackson, trainer for WBA/WBO/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs), feels WBC champion Adonis Stevenson (2701, 22KOs) is the better fan friendly opponent when compared to Olympic gold medal winner Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs).

He's damn right, both guys are some of the hardest punchers in the sport.
Kov fights excellent from range, good footwork, measures distance responsibly, great jab, and can hurt you without putting much mustard in a punch. I love the fact he's pretty nimble for a guy his size and carries a big can of whoop ass with him in his attitude.
Stevenson got more thunder in 1 hand than Kov has both but Kovs power is brutal as well in it's own way.
Stevenson has quick hands and is tough so I think it'll be a good fight. I just think now it's 60-40 Kov's favor than when before the Hopkins fight I had it 50-50 edge Stevenson especially after he KO'D Dawson.
If Kov gets through Pascal, Stevenson and Ward then he's instant P4P#1 and Fighter of The Year.
We'll be fun to watch him try them, win or lose.

Better fan fight, sure. But better fight? Probably not.

          It's true.

Stevenson will try to fight fire with fire and be entertaining for a few rounds before getting spectacularly ko'd

I see ward spoiling, nullifying and sucking the life out of the fight as much as he can on route to losing a ud

"provided Ward wins his next bout on March 26th against an opponent to be determined."
            lol

It's definitely a very interesting stylistic matchup between two stylistically contrasting knockout artists.

Kovalev/Stevenson definitely has good odds to end in sudden, brutal fashion. Either guy could stop the other with one punch.

I know as a fan I'd rather see Kov/Stevenson because of the animosity between them and the possibility that it ends in a brutal KO either way. Ward will box/Hold/head butt all night and Kovalev will probably get frustrated and who knows what happens...

Both fights should happen though...but one won't...

I only know that Stevenson cannot wait another year if he really wants to fight Kovalev and that there will be solid gate money in Quebec.
Ward may wait even until 2017 and hope he doesn't have to fight Kovalev, in case Beterbiev decide to face the Russian.
                    But maybe I'm wrong.
