A Ducking Problem at 140....Why Can't Terence Crawford Land These Big Fights?

Happy New Year Fellas. 2016 looks like it will be another year of mismatches and fights not being made.

One of the most intriguing divisions in boxing is 140. You have Terence Crawford of course, Viktor Postol, Mauricio Herrera (who is still the measuring stick for a lot of you guys), Jose Benevidez, Adrien Broner, Ruslan Providnikov and a promising prospect in Antonio Orozco.

The problem? Nobody wants to fight Terence Crawford to bring closure to this division:

    Mauricio Herrera - No

    ‏@danrafaelespn
Both @trboxing & @GoldenBoyBoxing told me Mauricio Herrera turned down Feb HBO fight vs Crawford today. Said he wouldn't be ready in time.
    Viktor Postol - No

VP of Top Rank, Inc., Carl Moretti put out on social media that Postol wanted to have two fights in between before facing Crawford. To that statement, Kornilov said, “Well we thought it would be a good idea to have one or two fights before Crawford, but in reality if it all made sense we are ready to fight Crawford now.” - See more at: //krikya360.com/postol-pr....IyPsO0ik.dpuf
    Ruslan Provodnikov - No

Moretti said other fighters who either turned down the fight or were not available for Crawford included Postol & Provodnikov

So it's looking like it will be TBA (I heard Hank Lundy is now the front runner). First off, I had no clue that Crawford was this avoided so I need to backtrack on statements I made criticizing him for a subpar 2015. TC can pack the house in his home town and he comes to fight. Why won't these guys step up and fight him in February?

    isn't he moving up soon?

He was but Manny Pacquiao rejected him in favor of a Bradley rubber match. So he has no fights at 147 because all of the fighters are with PBC.

Wow, Crawford is getting avoided. I had no idea it was this bad.

Well we're not the ones that have to fight him.

Crawford is a stylistic nightmare especially with his ability to fight Orthodox or Unorthodox effectively. Guys are going to want a good payday to step in with him and he is not a Draw yet for Arum to pay opponents big money to come fight him

But he will have his moment all he can do is keep winning impressively vs whoever Arum puts in front of him. When you can't get big fights all he can do really is take on his Mandatory which last time I see WBO ranking it was Jason Pagara whoever the hell that is

Aren't Herrera & Ruslan being lined up to fight each other & they both seem like cats who could use a respectable W more than a fight with the best guy in the division just career trajectory-wise? And Postol's peoples comment is interesting. Sounded like maybe he got offered a lowball number ("but in reality if it all made sense we are ready to fight Crawford now") or something else was going on there besides ducking.

And I mean all 3 of these guys seem like their history's show they will fight whoever so idk about ducking from these 3 cats. I think fans got little access to contracts/offers to know whats a legit duck vs a bad deal is so they just prefer to make the more fun claim of a guy ducking cuz a deal that doesn't represent a guys worth or perhaps even be a bad deal in some cases is boring.

Yeah Arum is the Lowball King and if you don't take his **** offer he will run to the media and make it seem like you're the reason why the fight is not happening. But yeah I'm sure guys want to be paid well to fight Crawford and I can't really say I blame them

i thought lundy was back at 135 trying to make a title run there. seems more like a verdejo opponent than a crawford one at this point

i know it's not arum's style, but i'd like crawford-benavidez if herrera and postol are unavailable. granados and troyanovsky would be fine too. point being there should still be a couple more names to check on before resorting to a lundy type opponent
