It probably will be done for 2017 and while it certainly helps Canelo, it helps GGG too. Not like he's a big name. If they want to make it a big fight, they need to build it up.

Sorry but Robert must be back on the sauce..more experience? Dude has 40 plus fights...seriously how much experience is "enough experience?" Knockout fighters sell..you don't need to build up shhh Canelo appeared on the second biggest ppv to date, has millions upon millions of fans and is a lineal champion. I mean damn at this point i'm waiting to hear "They should let it build up so Canelo has time to lose his hairline and make 4 kids."

This difference between this fight and the Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight is they both had credible opponents to fight in those 5 years prior to the fight. GGG and Canelo don't. If this waits until 2017 I think they're making a mistake. Oscar wants the mexican holidays but nobody is coming to Vegas for a Canelo vs. Lemieux or Rosado or Bradley. MGM isn't going to give him those dates if he's not bringing in the high rollers. They'll find something else to put in the new MGM grand and send Canelo back to the Thomas and Mack.

Only in this era of boxing do they negotiate/schedule/plan for fights 2 years in advance lmao

100 percent correct..who really can bring the big numbers for canelo in ppv if its not a joint golovkin matchup....I see nobody that can create a real buzz for canelo besides golovkin....Oscar is talking Rosado now which shows his true intentions and its plain to see that Oscar knows canelo stands little chance if he fights golovkin and he is doing everything possible to protect his golden nest egg...canelo could wait 3 years and he still wont beat golovkin , Robert Garcia is a fool and anything he says is just plain waffle, by the end of 2016 golovkin vs canelo will have taken place in my opinion as there is to much pressure on the WBC and even HBO to turn away from it...

Sure, what Garcia says makes sense if all you are interested in is money. GGG seems to have a different agenda, like perhaps championship belts? Besides, if the fight does happen in fall of 2016 then they can make money on rematches unless Canelo really gets blown out. Garcia mentioned the Pac/Mayweather fight and how long that took to happen. Well, I say look at the crap that some people paid for on PPV because both were past their prime.

Alvarez dont need more experience he already has a ton of experience and is well known and he faced guys like Mayweather, Lara and Cotto. That fight doesnt need any more marination!
