Why does Ward have to fight these fringe contenders? You only get money in this sport based on substance, if Ward thinks fighting Periban helps his credibility, it doesn't. Kind of like how Calzaghe beating a shot Roy Jones Jr didn't do crap for his legacy.

The article also mentions Dominic Boesel, he's garbage too despite being mandatory for Kovalev's WBO title. But Boesel would be a better fight than Periban.

EDIT: NM Boesel is fighting on January 23.

I thought it was his trainer (Abel Sanchez) who said that? None the less I don't think Ward is too eager to fight Barerra, and Ward doesn't have to fight Barerra, but Ward needs to fight someone credible.

So his plan B is a punching bag journeyman SMW? haha danm. Makes it seem like he really didn't want to fight Sullivan after all

Ward is seriously scarring his legacy with these games. It is almost like he has no confidence in himself. Fighting Barrera was giving me hope, and now looking way down again, a giant jump backwards. It is becoming silly.

You just never know where the Andre Ward Prize Patrol van will pull up next - the search is on, so keep an eye out - because the next lucky winner could be you!

                    Talk about being safety first.

The guy is scared to death of moving up just one weight division. First he needs a Test, catchweight fight against a blown up super-middleweight, and now he carefully weasels himself into a full Light-heavy.
