I'll believe it when he's in the ring. The only thing I can take his word for is filing a lawsuit.

Sure, but how long ago was the Smith fight? In a perfect world, Ward-SB would take place in March, which is 9 months after the Smith fight. Ward has fought twice in the last 3 1/2 years.

      I would say:

March - Ward vs Cornelius White/Cedric Agnew

August - Ward vs Issac Chilemba/ S. Berrera

      Nov - Ward vs Beterbiev

Feb 17 - Ward vs Kovalev

Along those lines. Let the man get properly warmed up

He knows to get back on HBO they demanded a higher level of comp.
He knows they aren't gonna pay for a Paul Smith.

Yeah but isn't that why they might need to put a rush on things - he hasn't fought 4 fights in a calender year since 2009. He might have an injury flare up and then things get derailed for him again.

Sure, put a rush on things, but not in the manner that we don't see Kov-Ward. It should be a calculated rush that will "prepare" Ward for the Kovalev test, not get him beat before he steps in the ring against Kov.

Kirkland, Gamboa, and Dirrel were all rushed to big fights to fast, after lengthy absences, IMO. Although S. Barrera isn't the top LHVWT, I think he can clip Ward and throw a wrench in the big plans. But if he wins, it won't be because he's the better fighter, it'd be because there was not enough oil in the engine.

Yeah, HBO declined a couple of his choices in the past.

They will show the fight as long as he's fighting someone decent, they don't even have to be great or anything.

Actually, HBO too is guilty of some mismatches. Who was that one bum Kovalev fought. That guy was awful.
