Comments Thread For: Roach Rips Atlas: He's a Non-Factor in Trilogy Fight

Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38KOs) is still undecided on who he plans to fight on April 9th.

Three fighters have been mentioned over the last few weeks, but WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and WBO junior welterweight beltholder Terence Crawford are considered to be the frontrunners.

Bradley (33-1-1, 13KOs) has already faced Pacquiao twice. He won a controversial twelve round split decision in 2012. They had a rematch in 2014, with Pacquiao winning a twelve round unanimous decision.

A little professional jealousy from Roach, perhaps?

There was a time when Roach could be defended. That time has now past.

I agree with Roach on this one, Atlas is a phony if there ever was one. This is the same guy that talks about character and trained Sammy "The Bull" Gravano's kid? His real fighters were Tyrone Jackson, Donnie Poole, Art Tucker, (an all star cast.) They say he never trained Tyson, but accompanied him to a tournament, and that video was made of Tyson crying with him, and he's been living off that B.S. ever since.

Wake me up when either of these joke Coaches raise a champion up from scratch.

Freddie Roach knows how to call B.S. when he sees it. He knows all about Atlas' gimmick and history of using bullying tactics, intimidation and fear. Therefore because of it, Teddy won't be able to punk him.

That same reason is why I don't think Virgil hunter is a great trainer either. In between rounds, instead of telling his fighters patterns and things he's noticing and how to attack, all he does is whisper in the fighters ears some motivational ish. In the berto-Mayweather fight all he kept telling berto was "he's embarrassing you, fight harder" instead of coaching him on how to fight a better fight. Atlas is not as bad though

ya well im tired people trying make roach out to be not a great trainer which he very well is. fact some people refuse to give him respect because he coaches a fan friendly style at times to help his fighters make money is getting kinda old. Im a floyd fan so obviously i have been a part of it but at the end of the day roach is one best and most accomplished trainers this sport has ever seen. This idea that roach is a fluke and has just road the coattails of pac man shows just how little some people actually know about the sweet science. There is no doubt roach is a brilliant mind. I think people get the promoter roach and the trainer roach mixed up because make no doubt about it he wears a promoters hat for his fighters

Atlas is most well known because he was cus damatos protege but he has trained and helped train many amateurs. Atlas is good for the sport of boxing and has had success as a trainer but hes not on roaches level theres no doubt about that
