    Castillo vs Diaz is on!

It's official - two-time WBC world lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo will take on IBF lightweight champion Julio 'Kidd' Diaz on Saturday, March 5 live on Showtime from Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort in Las Vegas. Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, made the announcement today. Castillo vs. Diaz will be in the main event. In the opening title bout, to be presented by Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, the IBF super middleweight champion Jeff 'Left Hook' Lacy of Tampa will be in a title defense against Rubin Williams. Castillo, 51-6-1 with 45 knockouts, is anxious to take on Diaz, 30-2 with 22 knockouts. "At this point in my career I only want to take on top fighters," Castillo said. "Let's see what Diaz brings to the ring." Diaz, younger brother of long-time contender Antonio Diaz, said Castillo is a big, brawling champion who he can handle. "I've always worked well against bigger fighters," Diaz said. "I've done well sparring with my older brother, who is big like Castillo, and this is a fight I expect to win." Tickets are $300, $200, $100, $50 and go on sale Wednesday, Feb. 2, noontime at the Mandalay Bay Box Office (702-632-7580) and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

I will not forgive Castillo for dodging Corrales like this. No more saying this guy is fearless now.

Castillo did not dodge Corrales, he was being offered only $50,000 and that is an insult.

        are you slow or what?

Corrales is the one who pulled out

Diaz is a good fighter but Castillo is on another level.

Diaz is going to really get ko'ed bad in this fight. His chin isn't all that good and he just seems unable to be an elite fighter. Castillo KO5.

Just when it looked like the fight would happen, the proposed March 5 lightweight unification beout between WBC champion Jose Luis Castillo and WBO champion Diego Corrales collapsed earlier today. "Diego would not sign the bout agreement," promoter Gery Shaw informed *********.com. Shaw stated that to their credit Showtime extended the deadline to make the fight happen numerous times, however "this is one time they said that if they don't have the bout agreement today, it's over. Around 4:30 or 5 p.m., they pulled the plug." He also commented, "I have a lot of respect for Diego. He's a tremendous fighter."

was looking forward to castillo vs. corrales almost as much as any fight this yr. Not pleased. But at least I get to see Castillo in some kind of fight more exciting than the Casamayor holdfest.
