Comments Thread For: Quillin to Mull Over Jacobs Rematch, Moving to 168

It hadn’t even been two hours since Peter Quillin had suffered a stunning first-round technical knockout loss to Daniel Jacobs. Quillin had accepted the defeat, but he couldn’t yet know what the implications would be on his future decisions.

Nevertheless, media members wanted to know — would he want a rematch with Daniel Jacobs? What about a move up to super middleweight?

Quillin acknowledged that any fighters would call for a rematch. Even a boxer who loses in less than half a round would want a second chance to prove that he can do better.

Quillin can't hang with the sharks at 168. Ramirez, DeGale and Jack would eat him alive up there.

Cutting down to 160 is what killed him last night that's why he couldn't take a punch fluids around brain don't have enough time to generate properly, need to go back to fight day weighin so these guys can fight in right divisions before someone gets killed

The weigh-in is such a big pre-event, that I doubt they would even consider going back to same day weigh-ins unless there's a major outcry over it with doctors and other health professionals coming out against 24 hour weigh-ins. What they could do is have the weigh-in the day before as a pre-event and then another the day of the fight. They do it anyways with the network weigh-in, just make it an official weigh-in.

Won't stop guys from doing drastic weight cuts to try and gain advantage only same day weighins will stop that

sorry Peter, but when you get sparked out in 90 seconds, you lose the right to talk about yourself in the 3rd person.......

I'm pretty sure what killed him last night was Danny's right hand, and his inability to see a trap when it hits him right in the face, literally. Paw with the left then SMACK. Crushing right hand sent him to the moon and then Jacobs teed off on him like they were in the back of a sleezy bar. Nothing ever good comes out of when you're being beaten like you were outback of a sleezy bar. It wasn't even boxing after the first punch landed. It was a savage beating, he could have weighed 268 lbs at that point. Didn't matter.
