The problem is no-one of any caliber wants to fight him because they're scared of him. They tried to organise a fight with Fujimoto and Fujimoto ran from it.

His competition has gotten worse but I think it is more to do with nobody wanting to fight him. He isn't well known on the big stage yet. He is young & talented. He has power & skill. I think Kevin Barry will move him to the states like they did with Tua back in the day when Barry & Lou Duva were handling him. He will have to move up the rankings slowly until he gets into an eliminator. Chris Byrd & Lennox Lewis were 2 examples of guys who had to wait their turn because neither was a big draw & they were too much of a threat when they were coming up.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but the ref was Marlon Wright from Quebec, Canada. He got a nice holiday in NZLD. I was surprised to see him as I didn't expect them to fly a guy from Canada in for a small fight like this. I know there were several regional belts on the line but still you would think they could get someone in the Asian Pacific region...

Fighters need to step up, but finding the appropriate step at a realistic price becomes more and more difficult. Parker team are now beginning to mention the step up, putting his name out there and making it known, thereby offering more publicity in the hope of attracting a higher profile fighter to the table.
It's all to easy to join the who needs him club at heavyweight. Guys who are finally earning good pay checks are, perhaps quite rightly, not willing to risk their pay rate against a lower ranked fighter just to help pave his way. The risk/reward ratio takes a good budget and good planning to climb upward.
I think Parker's progress is just fine, he's making the right noises and it's a matter of keeping up the good work, keeping busy and keeping the money coming in until the bigger opportunities can be grasped.
Anthony Joshua for example, is talking up Tyson Fury and that fight is definitely out of reach for, I'd guess, 18 months at the very least.Last edited by Reverb; 12-05-2015, 05:26 PM.

I would say this is the end of Parker fighting out of NZ. Word is that after his fight next month in Samoa, Parker will be fighting out of Vegas and aiming for a mandatory challenger position for the WBO belt so he should appear on the radar more in the US in the new year.
