Comments Thread For: Bute Regrets Not Jumping Out To Quicker Start

James DeGale thought he would be able to force Lucian Bute out his comfort zone early on, but in the end it was the younger defending champion who was forced to readjust in order to retain his super middleweight title.

The 29-year old southpaw from England jumped out to an early lead and overcame a mid-fight cut to score a 12-round unanimous decision win Saturday evening at Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada. Scores of 117-111 (twice) and 116-112 landed in favor of DeGale, who made the first defense of his super middleweight title.

Loose Booty blew it again eh? Maybe now Andre "Cow" Ward has someone safe enough he can actually fight while calling out GGG and Kovalev and blowing his hot nervous underwear freckling collard greens methane every time he hears the name Golovkin.

I honestly didn't think he was capable of doing what he did. A quicker start might have won him the fight, though it also would have put him in more danger.

Props, Bute. I was wrong about what you had left.

I thought Bute was a live dog in that fight.

DeGale doesn't have the style to do a demolition job like Froch did.

I've still not watched the fight yet though.

          He was very competitive.

His performance was very good for a shot fighter. I thought DeGale's usual problem of slowing in the middle rounds was a reason why.

Bute wasn't actually landing much, he looked better than he has in previous fights but most of Bute punches were landing on Degales gloves. Degale made it harder on himself than he needed to.

Bute didn't throw enough, he didn't land enough and caught DeGale only once and wasn't able to catch him again.

Degale outclassed him but it didn't seem like he had the power to hurt Bute, who took all his shots and kept coming.

DeGale did the better work but it was a good fight. The decision went the right way.

Anyway i think DeGale has talent and Dirrell and Bute are good names added to his record but i think he needs a dominant win in style over a decent name or fellow champion in his division to stamp his authority on that division now as top dog. He hasn't done that yet in my opinion.

So is it okay for me to ask for DeGale vs Ward???
