Comments Thread For: DeGale: Froch Exposed Bute, I'm Going To Finish Him!

Quebec City - Britain's James DeGale defends his International Boxing Federation super middleweight title Saturday against former champion Lucian Bute in a showdown of southpaws at the Romanian's home base of Canada.

DeGale, 21-1 with 14 knockouts, seeks his 12th win in a row in the first defense of the vacant crown he seized by edging American Andre Dirrell by unanimous decision last May.

"They think it's going to be a boxing match, but it will be a destruction," DeGale said. "I feel like a beast. It will be explosive. Place your bets. Trust me.

I had forget this fight was this week. This has potential to be an awesome fight, Bute and DeGale are both heavy hitting crafty technicians, a stoppage for either would be a huge statement. Looking forward to the victor going forwards, part of me would like to see DeGale emulate the success of Froch over Bute as he would be considered as good if not better. For me Froch knew DeGale was all he could handle and possibly more. As much as I respect Froch it would have been a huge challenge.

If DeGale beats Bute then goes on to face Abraham and winning abroad he'd be seen as a more fearsome road warrior than Froch ! Sounds crasy but DeGale is doing all his hard work overseas, this fight is a huge ask though he should not get ahead of himself but a lucrative unification over Abraham would be colossal.

Dunno man, Bute is shot. Even Taylor was a better away win. Both are exemplary traveling champs though.

It's a good first defence when you consider some of the bums that other so called top fighters have chosen for their first defences.

True, but Dirrell away from home then Bute regardless of the Froch losses an exceptionally difficult fight. The Taylor Froch fight with Froch losing until extremely late I guess I overlooked the significance to a comparison. Lets say Bute is winning and DeGale comes and wins by ko a la Froch/Taylor then I feel it's just as good a win. Bute has been through a war with Pascal and has proven he is durable, the hostile environment in Nottingham obviously had a huge effect on Bute if DeGale defeats Bute in his cauldron especially in an infamous said manner DeGale deserves Froch like kudos for his Taylor win.

                Well said.

Bute ain't no bum and he defeats DeGale he ain't no creme puff either, both men gonna deserve their kudos either way, I just hope this ain't a draw. I could see a Bute stoppage as I could a DeGale ko win.

Some interesting fights out there for the winner, I think I just do not want to see an Haymon fighter in receipt of a belt unless they intend to unify with Jack.

                  Froch exposed and finished Bute.

Bute has not been remotely the same since and I fully expect DeGale to punish Bute and stop him inside 8. It's not a bad name on the resume, but this version of him should be a very easy win.

It all depends on how strong DeGale's body is. Bute lands some murderous body shots that have stopped several fighters. And he's very crafty in other ways... not easy to hit. Only reason Froch won was Bute chose to trade with him. Bad move. Otherwise, Froch isn't that sharp vs solid technicians. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
