This is not about the money. If it was about the money, Cotto and his team would have refused to pay the 800K in step aside dough to GGG. This is just an "out", if you will, an excuse to not have to fight at middleweight anymore, to not be obligated to fight his, *ahem*, mandatory challenger. The WBC has been adamant recently about the winner of this fight having to fight GGG.

Look, I've been a huge Cotto fan, but these things occasionally pop up with him that make me second guess rooting for him.

The WBC, along with Cotto, Canelo and Oscar all bought into this mess. They all took part for their own best interest and not the best interest for the sport.

Haven't really seen Jay Z and Roc Nation (not sure who's the front man for them) hyping up this fight.

Oscar is promoting this as a fight for the Middleweight Championship.
So it does take away from the fight.

Roc Nation is the lead promoter. Jay-Z knows nothing about the boxing business so it's best he keeps his mouth shut. The head of their boxing division is David Itskowitch, he worked for Golden Boy.

Lineal means lineal. Golovkin isn't getting that designation unless he earns it in the ring, no matter how much it might bother you.
