Stiverne/Ortiz didn't happen for the same reason Ortiz/Jennings didn't happen on the GGG PPV undercard, money. K2 is notoriously cheap when it comes to paying fighters. Jennings sat out and still got the fight for more money. Haymon didn't take Stevenson to HBO, HBO declined to match Showtime's offer. Stevenson gave HBO an opportunity to match. HBO was offering Kovalev a fight deal but not the lineal champ Stevenson. HBO blew that fight and the purse bid by being cheap.

Why wouldn't Haymon have GGG on PBC vs Lara? Lara is as popular as he's going to get. PBC can make more money on advertising from that fight than 20 Lara fights. GGG wins and goes back to HBO to fight cans again. Why are GGG fans so afraid of him being challenged?
Lomo/Russell happened b/c it went to purse-bid and was won by Haymon/Showtime. Stieverne and his manager agreed to the money for the Ortiz fight, King/Haymon then waited til the last second and said no. It's been stated clearly many times, that with Kovalev signed to HBO that HBO has first rights to the fight. Haymon only needs to name a price and HBO can reject it and Haymon is free to put it on PBC, but he won't even name a price to them.

I've said it before - Haymon just spent over $300 million on tv time-buys and over pricing fight purses so that he could drown out the competition. HBO is his only competitor now, it would not be consistent with his business practice up to this point to give HBO a big fight, especially if it makes one of their stars a bigger name.

Canelo's footwork, the fact that he's a counterpuncher and his inability to cut the ring off might've had something to do with it...

This fight is a stylistic mismatch, anybody who thinks Lara has a chance is ****in delusional.

But **** it, make this fight happen, maybe you guys will shut up for a week or two after Golovkin dispatches Lara in less than 5 rounds.

So now Lara is the last glimpse of hope for the GGG haters?

Well, bring him on. All i have seen from Lara in the last couple years is a big mouth who couldnt back it up in the ring or even didnt step into the ring.

I was a supporter and fan in his early career.

Damn, he wasnt even able to stop overmatched opponents like Ishe Smith and Delvin Rodriguez, a guy that got knocked out inside 3 by Cotto.

I think Lara is a good skilled boxer who just isnt able to pull the trigger.

Whatever, bring him on, hope they would actually try to make the fight instead of just talking big.

I don't think so -- they've paid TV space for at least another year.

Still need to finance the fight purses for those tv dates.

Getting behind a guy who got mugged by angulo until his eye exploded, and had draws with ****in vanes and Carlos Molina, is ****in laughable and embarrassing.
you're probably right. but fact remains lara will be the best name on little g's resume. in my personal opinion lara beat canelo and he would also outbox cotto. therefore lara > cotto, canelo. golovkin might knock his head off, but it will finally put a good name on his belt. that's all his "haters" want.

I don't think you have the faintest idea what you are talking about.
