Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Wants To Return To Freddie Roach, Says Sr.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) will have the best year of his career in 2016, according to his father - the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.

According to Sr., Julio wants to return to the training arms of Freddie Roach, who previously trained the Mexican star for several years.

After Chavez Jr. parted with longtime promoter Top Rank earlier this year, he broke away from Roach and hired Joe Goossen. That relationship lasted one fight and then he hired Robert Garcia.

That's the impression I got. Freddy was so disappointed with the guy and was eager to detach his name from Chavez Jr.
Chavez needs to see Kirkland's old trainer. Get his ass slapped around.

Does Freddie even have time for him? With his age, and his condition, can he keep taking on this many fighters?

He's already working with Lebedev, Cotto, Manny, Frankie Gomez, Glen Tapia, Viktor Postol, and probably a few more guys that I haven't mentioned.

During the May/Pac lead up he said he was going to seriously cut back, go semi-retired and just focus on a few fighters. We'll see if that happens.. I think he feels unfinished after last May.
